My Husband is Cursed... Are You?

He goes to Home Depot and buys a defective item every time. It is getting to the point where he just buys 2 of everything so that he has a 50% chance of being successful....

It is 11:15PM and he is making an emergency exchange at the all-night Wal-Mart because the Power Wheels truck he bought for our son is missing the steering wheel...

Is it just him, or does everyone have a problem with lots of defective merchandise?

That's why when I have kids, I'm never going to buy them anything. That way they won't be dissapointed if it doesn't work. 😀

I think the problem with HD (I've had similar experiences) is because they are very flexible with their returns. You've seen threads here where people brag about buying something expensive and returning a different item for a refund, and stores that are easy on the return policy end up with stuff going back out on the shelf even if defective.

It can happen to anyone. I got tired of taking things back to stores, so I don't even leave the parking lot till things are checked out. Some stuff you have to take home, but it gets looked at right away. Then again, he could be cursed, get him exorcised!:Q

Yes I am too. One must be very vigilant in these matters. If you forget to check a box for its contents, or check to see if they've put in all the burgers and fries, that's the time you will come up short.

I just feel so bad for him. We laugh about it (heh, he even picked a malfunctioning wife, lol!) but it does seem like no matter where he goes, he heads straight for the bum items...

I will have to tape a note to his CC that says "open the box before you leave the parking lot!"

Edit: Yo Ma Ma, glad he is not the only one... well, not glad that you are cursed, but you know what I mean! 😀

Not anymore. I have learned to open the boxes in the parking lot. My return rate has significantly dropped for defective merchandise.

Sometimes, I even test electronics in the store.

The again, maybe the "curse" just ran its course. 🙂

<< Well at least his curse only applies to products and not women. >>

You are so sweet yakko... thanks, I needed that. 🙂

Apoppin... yes, I am thinking that after this year the Mister will be a changed man. It is getting so ridiculous that I think he will start checking things very carefully from now on...

Of course, this is a man who strapped a 36 inch television to the roof of our old Camry (this was before he got his truck) and drove home with it... I almost had a heart attack when I saw him pull up in the driveway like that.... :Q

For some reason, my vacuum cleaners keep breaking down. I don't know why. They turn on and I feel air being blow out the sides but I don't feel any suction at all. It's happened with 3 different vacuum cleaners.

Vacuum cleaners really suck! (Except in your case.) 😀

Are you cleaning the filter and changing the bag before it gets full (what bag?). Don't forget to check the pipe and hose for blockage.

Not really. But they look kind of empty....

Clean the filter. Then check the pipe and hoses for blockages and air leaks. If it is blowing air, it should be generating a vacuum. Have you checked it without any hose attached? Is the case completely closed and the seal intact?

Then again, you may have a vacuum cleaner curse . . . Did you slam the door on any vacuum cleaner salesmen? 🙂

rotfl!

Heh, I'm glad I checked the board one last time before bed. 😀

Ummmm...doesn't that just go without saying? 😉 j/k

Wow...I'm surprised the TV made it all the way to your house! :Q And to think, if it had fallen off the car it would have been the one piece of equipment that would have actually worked!

I just bought a ceiling fan for the computer room from Home Depot and it's defective. And I think my buddy who's installing it just took 120V in the arm. It's not a good night here!

Behold, the power of bungee cords.... seriously, he looks back on that moment and realizes he was temporarily insane at the time... 😀
