My parents have a 15-lb black cat that I'm pretty sure is part Maine my excellent compatriot. They live in the woods and he just started showing up one day. One day he was really beaten up so they brought him to the vet and got him all patched up and now he's their cat.

He's still very much an outdoor cat but as he gets older he's getting softer, spending slightly less time outside and slightly more inside.

He grows a big brownish mane in winter, it's pretty cool:

That is a really beautiful cat... it almost looks like a miniature lion.

Looks like my Mom's cat. My Mom's cat is a real pussy though; such a momma's boy.

I bet that pussy is pissed at your parents for keeping tags on him like that - the jingling makes it harder for him to be sneaky while hunting.

Same. I don't know how/why people do it. I had a cat, my mom let it go outside because it kept crying to go out. Never saw the cat again. :(

Worse part is, it was in fall and it snowed the day after. If it had snowed a day early we could had better luck finding it by following the tracks.
