My Hike in the Woods

I thought my hike in the woods with my dogs was going to be dull. About a half-mile in, my dogs started going bonkers and running thru the brush. I assume they caught the scent of something. Turning my head, I caught the sight of a buck about 50 feet away. Here are a few pics:

As my dogs got closer, I didn't realize that the buck had a doe with him. Well, the doe took off and the buck stayed to cut my dogs off from being able to chase the doe. The buck then charged my dogs a few times but my dogs were able to avoid it.

I finally got my camera changed to movie mode and took the following.

A mini-dachshund and two Rhodesian Ridgebacks.

I wasn't too concerned about that as I was standing still but if he did, I probably would have dropped the camera and try to hide behind a tree. He was pretty big.

Why can't I ever have that kind of luck?? 1 step forward and that thing would be heading to my freezer. (There's a small branch that would cause me not to take a shot with my bow.) But nope... my freezer's empty still.
