As for the more reliable form of birth control, we've never had any scares like this before. We both agreed sex is not worth this sort of scare, so we won't be needing that anymore.

you sound like a caring and mature young man, your girlfriend is a fortunate young lady. I'm not sure how realistic this particular decision is, though.

the health department wherever you live offers free/low cost womens health services through their family planning clinic. privacy is assured (parents won't find out.. this was the case when I availed myself of these services in the 70's, privacy laws have only improved over the years.. no worries). I don't know where you live, but here is the info from the backwards state of south carolina.

I'm not just giving you idle advice.. I've been there myself.. now I have a 19yo daughter with a 20yo boyfriend. I prefer not to think about these things, if I happen to I prefer to think they're not happening! but.. they're both adults, and it's really none of my business. I had my turn to make my choices, and my years to have a say in hers, and now it's not my turn anymore. so.. best I can do from here out is watch and be proud when appropriate and worry when I can't help myself.., offer advice when it's solicited, keep it to myself when it's not and trust that while she will surely make choices that I might wish she wouldn't from here on out, they will at least not be stupid choices.

if you, or your girlfriend, were mine, I'd wish you'd get yourselves to the family planning clinic, asap.

[EDIT]I was a little long in replying, I missed an update. I will leave this post intact, but you have obviously already made the decision (and a good one, if you stick to it).[/EDIT]

Something you might want to consider, if the possibility of pregnancy terrifies you so much are you really in any position to be having sex?

Pregnancy is always a possibility, & although you take every precaution to avoid it if it happens it should not be something that makes your heart stop.

IMHO you have no business having sex, as you're obviously incapable of dealing with the consequences.

(happy ending, we're very happily married with two beautiful daughters now)

50 years ago a pregnancy at your age would have been completely normal. This idea of a prolonged adolescence is silly. You're an adult, you had sex, you might have a baby. Deal.

BTW: I don't believe pregnancy tests work at such an early stage. She SHOULD go to her doctor about the discharge etc. period.
wow, seems like you've got the answer to all of life's problems in that little bubble of yours.

It could be a lot of things.

They should see a doctor asap.

My ex had irregular periods. They weren't enjoyable either. And, yes, she got pregnant at 19 (I was 24). After 2 months she had a miscarriage. It was horrible and painfull and very sad. It is also very hard on a relationship.

Just go see a doctor already to find out what is going on.

You can't always prevent it. Sometimes a woman can get pregnant despite taking all the necessary precautions. Good luck!

This is going to sound disgusting, but...... If something did happen and she is preggars, but severe cramping and discharge are occuring, she could be having a miscarriage. Find out for sure from a Dr., don't sit there and specualte about it.

Good point but... a miscarriage after at most three days of pregnancy?

Most definitely, and I only know from experience. My wife had one only 12 days after becoming pregnant.

You need to take your gf to a doctor.

Also - what is wrong with all of you people who pile on a guy when he is down?

Has she been under a lot of stress lately? That can cause a menstral cycle to go out of whack. It may also be something besides a pregnancy. When was the last time she saw her OB/GYN?

Funny, my conception story is remarkably similar.

I always knew my parents were on birth control when I was conceived, I didn't know until recently that they were using TWO methods.

So we went to the doctor. Long story short, she's not pregnant. It might just go away, she might have a yeast(sp?) infection.

Whew.

go to the pet store and get two rats. Starve them for a few days, then tie them to a string and set them loose on her (|), they'll take care of the rest.

Good luck to you; it would suck having to get married at 20 years old.

But if she's open to an abortion, then your problems are solved. Good luck.
