thats it i just got my delta 60MM 8K RPMS 50.3 CFM and i had it on for 2 hours and i cant take it!!!!!!!!!!! the noise is killing meee. soooo loud like realy realy loud.
the good thing is i am running 45c idle and 48 c on load with a SK-6 heatsink. its a 1.4 tbird OCed to 1.543. but i cant take it. i need something quiet. i dont care something quiter but with the same performace. anything you guys think off?

Maybe try giving it a week. I got used to my hhc-001. Now I don't really hear it at all.

alright, well, first of all you can try muffling the noise by sticking a pencil or a long pointy object in your ear. That'll probably bring down the noise level to 0 dB, no problem. Very cost effecient as well. LMK how it goes. ;D

If you want the same performance I'd recommend going to an 80 mm fan. It's well known that 60's are noisy as hell if they're moving alot of air. To attach the new fan to the hs you might need to get a lil adapter that lets you put an 80mm where a 60 should go usually using the 4 holes on the mobo, if you don't have them I've never seen the adapter but they probably exist to do it. Just slap that 80mm ontop of the adapter ontop of the hs and you will have the same performance from a much more quiet fan. However I sweared I couldn't deal with my delta 38cfm 46.5 db fan until I did a week later. Give it a chance because if the noise is killing you it's only other job is gonna be a paper weight.

You can put a 80mm fan on your Sk6 really easy. Just turn it 45 degrees (it will look like a diamond) and there you go. Just get a Sunon or something with similar or less airflow, but it will have a lot less dba. Look at 2cooltek for fans, they got tons of em. Anything under and around 30 dba is good.

Pick up a SVC GC68 at casemod for 14 bux. It comes with a 80mm fan and its super quiet with more than adequate cooling.

Haha. At one time, before I sold most of my machines, I had (4) GlobalWin CAK38s that had 7,000 RPM fans going all at once. I still have my Antec SX1240 case which have (3) 80mm High Output Sunons for intakes, (2) 80mm High Output Sunons for exhaust, and a 92mm regular RPM Sunon for exhaust as well. Then I had a GlobalWin FOP38 on at that time as well.

I ended up selling most of the machines, two of which were dual AMD rigs, because I wanted a Xbox, TV, Klipsch PM5.1, a new desk, a new chair, and a few other things as well. My mom and my brother were happy because they could hear the TV again in the living room, which is right outside my door. They MADE me keep my door shut 24/7 because of the noise level. No joke. I didn't mind it, personally; it actually helped me sleep. My mom use to vacuum when I was little to help put me to sleep. Not sure why, but it did the trick.

I agree on getting the 60mm -> 80mm fan adapter if you want to keep your current HSF. Otherwise, I'd reccommend the Alpha PAL8045 HSF with a Panaflo 21dBA 80mm fan to acompany it.

Actualy, on a slightly more serious note, you can try making it run on 7V instead of 12V... (juste use your 12V as positive and 5V as ground...)

It involves a little bit of taking apart molex connectors and cutting the wire on your delta to plug it directly to the PSU, but it's pretty easy to do... and most importantly, it works great !
(my CPU fan and 2 of my case fans are set up like that... )

man screw that fan. that fan is out the window. i tihnk i am gonna get the panaflo 80MM but there is 2 which one should i get? the 32.0 db or the 38.2 db? one is 39 CFM and one is 46 CFM? is it worth it the noise? on the 38? i had the 54.5 db and it sounded my box was about to take off!!

I recently picked up a SVC GC68 after talking with Buz2b and I'm impressed with it's cooling to noise ratio, and if you want even better cooling just put a higher CFM 80mm fan on there.

Didnt you say that the problem was a 60mm fan?? If so an 80mm fan wont fit there.

If your getting a new HS/fan, get a panaflo L1A with 21dB for 3 bux. Super quiet!

If youre willing to upgrade your 60mm HS to an 80mm one, get a GC68

Check out the Galaxy Monster from Nexfan- same sink as the gc68, slightly different fan, half the price. Get a 80mm H1a Panaflo or 40cfm Sunon to mount on it if the stock fan isn't enough. Or a 760092 Taisol from KDComputers- Noisier, depending on fan choice, nothing like your current setup- excellent effect, though.

Now you know why they call it an insane overclock, huh? You're gonna pay one way or the other, out of pocket for an ax-7 or 8045, or with your ears for something less expensive. Find a noise level you can live with, adjust the cpu speed accordingly.
