My HDL is 36, my LDL is 137.

Been doing lots of cardio over the past couple months and mixing in weight training twice a week. Started eating a lot healthier in Jan and even gave up soda and junk food.

BUT, got another kidney stone and slowed down my exercise routine. By the time I had blood work done I hadnt worked out in over a week.
My liver activity was high but thats probably cuz of all the aspirin and ibuprofen I took to make the stone pain go away. Dunno if hyperactive liver does anything to cholesterol. Also slightly more fat in my liver than is ideal, but doctor never gave me exact numbers.

No other blood or health problems and I started working out hard this past monday. Blood pressure is fine at any given time regardless of other situations, which is weird cuz I'm always pissed off about something and I held up my exercise for a couple weeks. Not on any medication and stopped with the pain killers last week.

Aside from eating more greens and less garbage is there anything I can do?
 
You need to eat more healthy fats to get your HDL up. Consume some good sources of MUFAs (nuts, seeds, avocados, etc) to increase your HDL, increase your soluble fiber intake to reduce your LDL. Continue exercising - the more endurance related it is, the greater the contribution to your HDL/LDL (favorably).
 
i wish my HDL was that high. mine was at 16 🙁

dunno what it is now since i changed up my diet considerably to include even more veggies and PB. i'm like a god damn shell gas station now though, so it better be worth it!

What S.C. said. More nuts (almonds/walnuts raw), fish oil, good fats. Mine was 73 at the last test.
 
Because of my kidney stones I cant have almonds, cashews or peanuts. I take a fish oil pill every day.
I could probably eat more greens if I tried, and could mix in a whole grain sammich once in a while.

Do they cause them?

I take 6-8 fish oil caps per day (cleared it with the nutritionist 1st). Started because of inflammation but the HDL was a pleasant side effect. I do bruise a lot easier. Might bleed out in a car wreck.😱

Eat avocados, olive oil, olives, etc and more soluble fiber then (prunes, beans, legumes). Also, you take one fish oil pill per day? How many combined EPA and DHA are you getting from that? You need around 2g of actual EPA/DHA to have significant affects on your cholesterol.

I take 1 per day, lemme check the numbers.

Not saying that you shouldnt eat healthier and exercise more, but be prepared for the remote possibility that your cholesterol wont respond like you would like and that you might need meds. Some say that your cholesterol balance/imbalance might be due to a yet unidentified cause, and, for a select few, meds can be a necessity in controlling it.

Geek out on cholesterol if you're interested.

Eh, I'm sure the OP can clean some things up. His cholesterol, at this stage, isn't even technically worrisome in the medical community. They tend to look more at overall cholesterol and triglycerides. His HDL can stand to improve, but honestly, he's low risk.
 
Overall was 206, triglycerides were 35.

Yeah, with cholesterol over 200 and HDL below 40, you need to make some dietary changes. Your triglycerides are pretty good, but your cholesterol to HDL ratio is poor at best. Ideally, your ratio should be closer to 3:1 (like 120 LDL to 40 HDL), but your's is more than 5:1 (200 to 40). You should definitely start makin' some changes - maybe even start decreasing your cholesterol intake to see if that has any effect. You make, in fact, be part of the 30% that's cholesterol sensitive.
