My HD7850 OC only scored 7.3 from WEI??

I'm not very into scores or marks. I just happened to click on the Windows Experience Index, which later showed a unacceptable 7.3 for the graphic..

CPU i5 3550 - scored 7.5
Memory Corsair 2x4G 1600 - scored 7.7
SSD Corsair Force GT 240G - scored 7.8
Graphic Gigabyte HD 7850 OC - scored a poor 7.3 <- not acceptable !!

Can anyone please tell me if this is normal? I thought 7850 OC should be pretty good in the middle range cards...

Is this because of Gigabyte? I was going to get a Sapphire, but thought Gigabyte was to be faster and cooler...

Can anyone please explain to me?

Just to toss out some useless info, my stock 5870 scored a 7.8 in both WEI graphics scores. I think a 7850 is supposed to be a little faster, right?

I know people always say they don't give two craps about WEI but I bet if their scores were lower than what was normal that they would be interested to know why.

Not really if actual benchmarks or game performance show that the card is as fast as it should be

5870 > 7850.

Yes a factory overclocked 7850 (around 1ghz core) is around 20% faster than a stock 5870.
And no not really, WEI doesnt mean anything, if your fps was lower than it was supposed to be in games ect then Id be worried.

5870 > 7850.

Nope, even stock 7850 is faster than a stock 5870, by around 10% on avg at 1920x1080.
Thats from Techpowerup avg out scores against each other, over 18 games and like 5 synthetic tests.

The 7850 is faster.

7850 is known to score a 7.9 on WEI but I would run some other benches to see where your card stands. Run 3dmark 11.

WEI is so unrealiable. My HD6950 @ 6970 speeds used to vary from 6.9 to 7.3 to 7.9 just by changing the driver versions........lame. My SSD goes to 5.9 by going from SATA/AHCI Enabled to Native IDE in the BIOS. WEI is useless.

All those who are NOT getting 7.9 with HD6950 or higher, go into the catalyst control center. For some reason, the CCC likes to change the settings to "quality". Change the slider to something, then back to "balanced" It will reset the driver. Re-run WEI, problem solved.

HD5770 / HD6770 / HD7750 score 7.4
HD6850 scores 7.7
HD7770 scores 7.6
HD6870 scores 7.8
HD6950 and higher score 7.9

Cannot comment on the nvidia equivalents, but expect similar numbers. I see WEI only as a relative measure of performance, and an indicator that some tweaking is needed.

Rvenger, out of topic and just curiosity, what are your WEI scores in both rigs? I am assuming you are 7.9 accross the board with the exception of CPU in your main one. 7.6 or 7.7 CPU?

OH that makes sense. I always play games with textures set at High Quality. My HD7970 gets 7.9 with HQ anyway. The entire scale doesn't even make sense. HD6950 gets 7.9 and 7970 gets 7.9. They need to either expand the scale or use 3dMark 11 scores straight up and use % with Quad SLI GTX690 as 100% or something. 😀

I've maxed at 7.9 for both graphics scores on WEI, my Vertex 3 hits 7.7 (I hear it would hit 7.9 on a 6gbps connection) my RAM hits 7.6, and my oldass Phenom 2 is apparently the slouch at 7.6

My quad-fire CF scores 7.4 😀 WEI is utterly useless and shouldn't have been even included in its current form.

go to msi website and download there free programs one is a graphics tester one is a graphics tuner.

your wei score is too low.

I have 3 cards a hd6770 a hd 7750 a hd 6870

my hd 7750 is wei 7.4 my hd 6870 is wei 7.7

your hd7850 is better then my hd6870 so wei has ;

1 given you a wrong score

2 you have a bad card

so down load the free programs from msi

http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/overview.htm

run the benchmarks
and see what the scores are. while wei gives really weird and bad results some of the time it is possible your card is no good.

I have a HD6870 as well.
