i'm using win2k now, and the HD is reporting the wrong amount of space left, how do i fix this? or is my HD messed up?

no, it says that i have only 101MB left when I opne up My Computer, but when i select all the files in that Drive, it says that I'm using 7GB of my 8GB, therefore i really have 1GB left.

Possibility: if you're using Norton Utilities, its Recycle Bin management could be messing things up, it once reduced 2 gb of free space to an empty drive for me🙂

Scandisk: Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, ScanDisk

i do'nt have any programs like Nortton's installed right now.

btw, ScanDisk isn't in the system tools folder, i tried a search for it, its not on my HD! where is it?

scan disk:
right click the drive in my computer-->properties-->error checking-->scandisk

you can also try chkdsk i got 400 megs of junk files before sincei havnt chkdsked in like 5 months

run type in chkdsk

Did you try emptying the Recycle Bin? Everything in the recycle bin still takes up space but does not get reported as a file.
