I feel some of your pain, man....my new-to-me IBM U160 10k SCSI HD suddenly developed some bad blocks recently :|
At least it's under warranty, but it ate my email addy book, my Netscape folder, etc. Could have been worse, I guess. But then I stupidly formatted a HD for temporary replacement
which already had a fairly recent image of the bad drive, argggghhhhh.....

I've sent back 8 failed 75GXP drives (all 60GB).. not at the same time.. always get 75GXPs back. Several of the replacements have the same problem and need to be RMA'd.. but not all of them..

Just sent one to them yesterday, waiting for it back.. 'stability testing' one I got back from them recently right now.

I sent my IBM drive back for replacement on the 23rd October - been told by IBM I should receive my replacement today - about frickin' time :|

Anyway, I don't know what I'd feel worse about - the fact that my drive died or the fact that I have to use a Dell!

<< someone in these forums sent back a 75gxp and got back a 60gxp. >>

That was me :) 45 Gig 75GXP was replaced with a 60 Gig 60GXP. Not complaining a bit!

LOL, these things have become as reliable as a three legged table under Christmas Dinner with the Bumpus' hounds about! :p Two years ago, saying you're stability testing a hard disk would've made no sense!

Perhaps this trend will stir a market for affordable desktop backup solutions! :)

Cheers!

What should I do now? If I send them my ibm gxp 75 gig back... which new hardrive should i get? In the meantime Im thinking about a replacement with another hardrive. Which hardrives are good? (Better than my stupid ibm =) Seagate? Please specify me some good brands... Also I have a question. If I set my primary drive to my new one that im getting and my secondary to the old gxp that failed, would I still be able to access the files on the gxp or would they be all gone?

Can anyone tell me what happened when their 75GXP actually failed? did it start making weird noises? was it giving errors on boot-up?

Im wondering because mine has kinda been acting weird lately and i'm getting worried...

thanks
