I have two hard-drives in my computer. One of them keep clicking...making this pinging type noise. It just started doing this a few days ago...I'm afraid it will crash. Is this bad or is this normal???

Thanks in advance

I know this is probably a dumb question that's hard to answer(everybody has different sound perception), but what does a "clicking" hard drive sound like? Is the noise constant? My HD usually makes audible noises that kinda sounds like clicks(to me) when opening files, but does this just mean it is noisy, or is something wrong if a HD makes any noise at all?

When it happened to me it would start woodpecker clicking and screaching on boot up. Intermittent at first. Then more frequently.

This is complete BS.....I just got this drive a few months ago....I've been through so many hard-drives these past 3 years its been annoying as hell!!!

At least I'm backing stuff up as we speak and won't lose tons of data....but still, I'm really pissed...how hard is it to make a hard-drive that will last longer than a couple months?? Even my POS first computer Packard Bell 486SX is still running with no hard-drive crashes ever on its 200MB drive!!!

What gives??
