Well actually it hurts below my palm and it goes off about 3 inches more into my arm.

I think its from the excesive use of my cheap wheel mouse at work with a regular mouse pad.

What do you guys recommend.

Is that what you call it?

Edit: I'd recommend replacing your "regular mouse pad" with a water based lube.

That's crap. But awhile back I saw a MS wireless optical mouse for like $10 on bensbargains.net.

I actually have this mouse pad. I also have experienced the same problem as the OP. The mouse pad has helped relieve some of the pain. But towards the end of the work day, my hand still tingles every other day. I saw a product on G4TechTV for a wrist orthopedic support which is suppose to help with this problem. Placed an order for it and just waiting for it to ship. I will update my post if it is a good product.

If it's injury-related, most companies will cave and buy you a mouse. I've worked places where the machines were so locked down you couldn't install your own mouse (unless it happened to be one of the 2 or 3 models that were officially supported), so you might want to check on that before you buy one,if you buy one.

Whatever you do, don't ignore it; it will not go away on its own.

I suggest a regular stretching and exercise regimen for the wrist, and plenty of water-based lube.

I used to have this problem... switched to a Logitech trackball and the problem has mostly gone away (my hand still hurts occasionally). Of course it's also great fun to watch other people try to use it - it always takes them a minute or two to figure out why my mouse doesn't work.

Also try not resting your hand on your desk when using the mouse - the pressure on the wrist joint seems to be what makes my hand hurt.

That's how the wrist support I mentioned works. It's a plastic brace which sits under you forearm up to the wrist. It allows your arm to freely move around in a more natural motion. Most mousing positions require you to move the mouse with your wrist while your arm rests still on the desk. Since you arm muscles can take more wear and tear and your wrist, this particular product looks to be promising to help with the repetive stress pain.

Thats exactly that i'm doing i rest my hand on the mouse bad or desk and after a few hours well it hurts.

during the day i strech the hand and flex it and i also go to gym later on and do some hand exercises.

I actually spoke to the IT guy and asked him if we had any gel mouse pad and he said no, but we do have lots of foam around, try that he said.

Basically i have to put a request for one through my boss and if i get one the entire department is going to want one.

So I received this product yesterday. Used it last night and today for half a day, it has relieved all tension in my wrist. My mouse control is off since I'm not used to using my entire forearm to control my mouse. So far, this appears to be a good product to help with prevent carpal tunnel syndrome.
