GP102 will be 4k/60fps card.

That was said about the 1080 too, and the new Titan. We're fluttering on the edge of parity between hardware and software @4k, I'd bet on the 1080ti being a perfect 60fps @4k for the first three months, then new titles coming out which push it back down. It'll require the next card release (at the x080 level) for a true 4k, no-issues-for-a-year card, at which point the goalposts will move to 5k, 8k, 4k@120fps, etc.

The Titan XP isn't already a 4K/60FPS card with the release of AAA 2016 games so why would the 1080Ti be for even a single day?

We need some sort of breakthrough in dual GPU technology for 4K max 60FPS to become reality anytime soon.

TITANXP is not full GP102.Also at 2-2.1Ghz even cutdown TITANXP is 4k/60fps card.
Btw i think there will be no 1080TI this time.

It's the next generation cards that look like it will do 4k well. Even a pascal refresh would help a lot with high end 4k gaming.

I'm not ready to buy a new card yet, but I'm getting there. Nice seeing you still here, bfg10k.

Hopefully they improved the VRM'S with the 1080 Gigabyte ITX. I just had to send back my Gigabyte 1070 ITX (same card as OP) for the second time in less than a year. The card just randomly dies after a few months of load. The second time I was only running at 60% power and the GPU core ran in the mid 60's. I think the 1070 has a defect where a bank of capacitors are lined vertically on the backside of the card, there's a thin metal heatsink that covers this area but gets super hot even under mild loads. I've heard from others complaining about the same card dying on them.

I've had the card since November 2016 - so far so good. The Tom's article I linked to showed high (but not concerning) temperatures in that area.

Were you overclocking?

Underclocking core to 1450Mhz or so, overclocking memory +500, running at reduced power (60%) and ensuring good cooling of the card, even the VRM area has active cooling. I was running the card 24/7 mining Ether while not gaming but this is pretty low stress for a card all things considered (I have 50 cards or so in total, this is the only card I have had issues with). I would chock it up to a lemming but another miner who has 6 of these same cards had half of them die on him in a matter of months. Perhaps these cards just aren't meant for prolonged use regardless of the load or cooling they receive.
