After changing the PSU if the noise persists rma the card.
Hi jay I've just put in an order for a Thermaltake tough power XT 875... Ive heard they are very good PSU's
this will have more than enough power to run it. Right?

OP if you can't deal with the coil whine you need to RMA the card. The replacement will probably have it as well though. Maybe you could call the manufacturer or even try to get a refund. I know I like my PC quiet and I would be pissed if there were coil whine on such an expensive card.
Coil whine wouldn't cause the crashing. As has already been said, It could be temps or PSU. Or it could just be a defective card.
OP, first check GPU temps. If they are OK, can you borrow a good quality PSU? Failing either one of those being the problem, I would just RMA the card.
