My girlfriend wants to get a tattoo...

We have been together over a year and a half now.

I already told her that I completely disapprove of them and that I never wanted her to get one. She promised me a year ago that she never would.

Now she says she wants a tattoo to show off to people. I asked her why. She says because she can and she will no mater what I say.

I guess she wants attention. When we love each other, we LOVE each other. But at the same time, we argue 80% of the time. I'm always in a good mood, but she knows how to change that in an instant. So that would be another reason to lose her.

Also, she looks exactly like her mom when she was her age. Not good news.

It's raining pretty hard here........ Seems fitting.

I'm staying with her. I love her way too much to just simply let her go. I told her that she could do whatever she wants, as long as he talks to me about it. I told her she could get the tattoo.

She started crying and she said, "I don't want a tattoo! I just wanted the freedom to know that I could get one!"

Sooo, this was some sort of test? She was raised in a very strict family. Maybe she just wants freedom from rules.

Thanks,
Dustin

Girlfriend, not wife, in the end her life and her body are her responsiblity as is her faith. If you are uncomfortable with it, then you need to find a new relationship.

Her body, her choice.

And you should change your poll.. she should lose you instead.

Do you eat meat on Friday, not observe the sabbath to the degree god intended, lust over cars, houses, good, that others have? If so, you have no room to claim religion.

well. i love tattoos (and i posted my latest one on the boards a little while ago).

however, from what you've posted, it sounds like she's choosing to get one for the wrong reasons.

is she as religious as you are? if not, presenting a religious argument may just anger her or incite her further...

I think it's her choise.
Even if you are ultrachristian, this doesnt make you the sinner- let her do what she wants with her soul

I agree with this. Although I may not condone your ideology, as far as your personality and mindset, it would be apt to dump her if she is going to something as blasphemous as this. You might want to really drive the point home of "look, if you do this, we're through."

QFT.

You need to grow up and stop being so insecure/controlling.

Ultimately it's her choice, not yours.

The fact that she doesn't know WHY she wants a tattoo makes it sound like she's just trying be "cool" though. That's a very stupid reason for getting one, IMO.

"Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD." - Leviticus 19:28

"For the dead" = in honour of the dead, or something to that effect.

Anyhow, I say retaliate. Tattoo a barcode on your neck and 666 on your forehead. That'll show her.

God damned religious idiots. It's too bad that gravity isn't disputed in your Big Book of Lies, or I'd just tell your dumb ass to swan-dive off a skyscraper and prove your faith.

Or perhaps she doesn't want to tell him because she doesn't want a debate on it.

Opening salvo fired. Let's see if he comes back with logic, or a thump on the perennial nominee for "Best Fiction"

Her body, her choice.

It's your choice whether or not this is a relationship-breaker for you.

As for the sinning aspect: everyone is a sinner. EVERYONE. I don't agree with her attitude that it's ok to sin but I'm also aware that everyone is a sinner.

Everyone on this board is pretty much my crowd. And we mostly share opinions.

Do you *READ* this board? How can you claim to be highly Christian and say you share opinions with most of this board?

That's the reason probably 99% of young women get tattoos... it's trendy.

You leave the kittens alone!!!

Seriously though, if it bothers you that much and it's going to be a continual source of contention, it might be time for you to move on.

Ultimately, it's her choice though.
