Wow,

Do you wash your hands alot too? ;) I'm a pretty slow writer, so if the auto fires every 5 mins, I usually don't lose much. Then again, I don't think I've needed it in like 8 years.

Meh, such is life.

An animal life doesnt worth your brain capability to judge things( like forgetting to BACKUP!!!! )

You just can blame yourself for this to happen. The cat didnt walk over your thing and say"HEY HERE IS THE RESET BUTTON LET PRESS IT!!!! "

My cat peed all over a years worth of chemistry notes.... that sucked. What sucked worse was opening the notebook and being blasted by the odor.

Actually I write pretty slow too. That's why I don't have anything else to do aside from pressing Ctrl + S repeatedly while figuring out what to write next

The funny thing is his dad was there and didn't give a rat's arse.

Anyway, saving is something I learned in elementary school. And the OP is in HS or college?
 Still, I feel bad for you, dude.:brokenheart:

My dog $hit on my homework once. I gingerly wrapped it in plastic, brought it to school anyway, and stuck it in my locker. The teacher for this class was very strict, and notorious for taking no $hit (har har :D) when it came to late HW assignments. I told her what happened, and asked if I could redo it and turn it in tomorrow. She said "No, because I don't believe you. I think you just didn't do it. If I don't have it by the end of class, you get a zero on it." OK, fine, you asked for it...

So I went and got the heavily skidmarked homework, placed it in the middle of the stack with the rest, and left for my next class. She wasn't very happy about it the next day, but she couldn't say ANYTHING :D. Lol, she probably ended up with hershey stains on her fingers from shuffling the stack of papers. It was awesome.

Erm.. can't you set the power button to go to standby? Or did he step on it for 5 seconds? Either way, I think that you should be blaming yourself, not the cat. The cat has no way of knowing any better. You, on the other hand, certainly should know better than to make the 3 or 4 mistakes required for this problem to happen.

Doesn't word make a temporary secondary file while you're working on it? And if word shuts down unexpectedly, wouldn't it still be there?

My sympathies..

It's a true story dude. I was in 9th grade - freshman year of HS, the teacher's name was Mrs. Slaughter (no, I'm not kidding), and the class was IS1 (Integrated Science 1). The homework in question was a lab report for a pH experiment.

I remember it clearly because I worried so much about it when I woke up the next morning and found out what happened. Not to mention, the dog tagged the book for the class too (it was under the homework) but not that badly since the HW absorbed most of it. I don't know how else to prove it, but it did happen.

Frankly, I don't care whether or not you believe me - but why the hell would I make something like that up?

I save very often also. When I have stopped typing I save or when I feel like it I will save.

I also copy stuff that I have replied in threads before I 'reply' also due to some funky stuff happening a few months ago with this board and I lost some long messages I wrote!

OP man that sucks :(

Just be more careful next time.

Oh man I feel like a horrible person typing this, but let me tell you: A cat might forget you even after you own it for a few years or whatever, but it won't forget you, ever, if you shoot it with a BB gun, or put him in the dryer.
Yup, one time our cat bit my brother for no good reason and made him bleed. So he took it, wrapped it in a blanket, and threw it in the dryer for a couple minutes. Then he took it, and rolled it down the steps (still wrapped up in the huge blanket of course). I don't think I've ever seen such a scared cat!
