My GFs Cat just crashed my notebook

Damn that sucks. But you should build the habit of CTRL-S every once in awhile. I do it so often that sometimes when I type a long reply to people in email or forums i press CTRL - S

Yup, one time our cat bit my brother for no good reason and made him bleed. So he took it, wrapped it in a blanket, and threw it in the dryer for a couple minutes. Then he took it, and rolled it down the steps (still wrapped up in the huge blanket of course). I don't think I've ever seen such a scared cat!
