My wife and I had a surprise pregnancy earlier this year and we religiously use condoms. And no, It did not break. Unfortunately, We lost the little one to miscarriage. Condoms are definately not fail-proof.

Lucky, Not to sound like a preacher or something, But you should have been wearing one anyway as it sounds like you haven't known this gal too long and you can't be too sure of where she's been or what she could have. Safety first!!

Low effectiveness rates are not because the drug itself fails but rather because of inconsistent usage or because of situation like mine where other drugs interfere. For properly administrered birth control the effectiveness, AFAIK, is 99.9%.

But men still need to take control into their own hands, because it ain't fun not having control afterwards.


Oh, and my mother just called me saying that my grandmother is about to die in the hospital tonight. How can this day get any better.

Show me a independent study, NO FUND FROM DRUG COMPANIES, and where the women where in their teens to 20's that says it is 99.9%.
Even drug companies say the pill is only in the MID 90's, I have NEVER seen 99%. Heck here is a quote from a drug companies site....

"The Pill is one of the most effective reversible methods of birth control. Of 100 women who use the Pill, only eight will become pregnant during the first year of typical use."

I love how they say ONLY 8 will get pregnant. How many people would be happy being on of those eight?? And again this is with THEIR study and THEIR chossen people.


Same goes for you "FallenHero" Show me this FAIR and INDEPENDENT study???

On a serious note, don't trust those over the counter pregnancy test, ask her to go to the doctor and do urinalisys and blood test. She may have gotten pregnant before you came into the picture.

I was looking up morningsickness on google and i found the majority of sites to say the same information...

Why do they call it morning sickness if I feel nauseated all day long?

For some, it's worse in the morning and gets better over the course of the day, but "morning sickness" can strike at any time. The nausea usually starts around 6 weeks but can come on as early as 4 weeks for some women, and it usually tapers off around 13 weeks as you start your second trimester, although queasiness can come and go throughout your pregnancy.

Typical use of girls, ONLY using birth control pills/patch/etc.., in their teens to late 20's is 70-80% range.
My point is use a condom AND birth control. And even then I doubt you will get 99.9%, maybe HIGH 90's.

 
Well, if you refer to being pregnant as "preggo" then maybe you're not mature enough for a baby.. don't mean to sound high and mighty but I think that you're either jumping to a conclusion here or just bragging to ATOT's that you got to have sex in odd positions 😉 (btw Doing hitb can't get her pregnant!)

Birth control for girls in their teens to 20's is ONLY 70-80%. All the test saying mid 90's is PAID for and done by the drug compnaies selling the drug, AND the people they use are usually in their 30's to 40's and they are monitored.

Birth control PLUS a condom is about a safe as it gets. Not using a condom = Daddy. 😱

I see the OP has already made a comment on teh use of a condom. Take a guess what, Hindsight is always 20-20.
Anybody want to take a bet there still will be others here come back and say the same thing as this OP and others have said...

Combining those methods with the pill or injection is a very effective method of birth control. Using a condom is even more effective, but if the woman is consistent with her use of birth control, it really isn't necessary.

Lucky, I'm glad you learned your lesson, albeit the hard way.

I remember you once staunchly defended (at FW) intentionally not using condom, especially on a regular basis. You sampled your long-term ex-gf's (at the time your gf) situation as proof that it wouldn't fail, in spite of an instance where it came close to going wrong.

I do hope that this lesson was truly learned, whether or not the pregnancy test reads positive. Hope you handle the result well, in the event that it comes out positive.

A great many of the "failures" of the pill in people who are taking them are by people not properly taking them. I would personally have few qualms about using the pill as the only form of birth control if I knew that my partner was meticulous about taking it on a daily basis and was sure to have us rely on something else if she's on antibiotics or anything else that can affect the pill.

Pill + condom is something some younger people do when they're really worried, and it's definitely safer than the pill alone (BtW, if you're worried about STDs that much I'd recommend finding a better partner; that's why I don't care for the discussion from that slant) for anti-pregnancy, but the pill is so effective when used properly as to not really warrant anything else unless you have a deep-rooted and paranoid fear of pregnancy!
 
skoorb - Preventing STD was almost tied with reducing the chance of pregnancy for me. I always figured if she was sleeping with me, she's slept with someone else (same applied to me, of course). That meant I was sleeping with her and her former partners. That meant latex.
