personally I'd hate to be with a female who didn't love V-Day.

"Random, Romantic movies give unrealistic expectations to women about men & ruin relationships......Porn has the same affect on men." - Chad Ochocinco.

That quote sorta fits this thread imho.

Valentine's Day: Another fake holiday made up by industry, made to generate billions of dollars by guilting men across the nation into spending yet more money they don't have, in hopes of getting sex of some sort, which they won't

Ummm Valentines day is centuries old, so it's doubtful it was made up by the industry to get guys to spend money. And here's a shocker, you don't even have to spend money to make it special. Cooking your woman a nice dinner at home and writing her a poem can get you plenty of Valentines day sex. And just about all non gold diggers would absolutely love the thoughtfulness of receiving a poem that was written for them.

Only lazy men who have zero creativity have to resort to spending a wad of cash on this day.

Anybody else thinking on February 15th we'll see a thread, maybe in L&R, posted by Zeze, "my girlfriend dumped me, said I don't love her enough"?

I havent read anything beyond the op, but if your dumb enough to fall for this trap, your fucked. Women are absolutely crazy psychos when it comes to this crap, in fact we have a forum dedicated to them and their crazyness.

OP would be 10x the winner if he actually did something, even small for his lady. She would be at work bragging "Girl, I told him I was fine if he totally ignored the day. And look what he still did for me any ways!" A good woman wants a man who does something out of love not out of fear. She took the fear away in hopes you would do it because you loved her. People are carrying on about it being a trap, but if she has faith in her man it's not even a trap really. Because she believes he'll deliver regardless of her downplaying of the days importance.

MAN her Twitter should be golden on the 15th lol.

It's still out of fear, because we all know she's lying, that it's a trap. If she actually meant it, then it might be something out of love... but more likely, it'd be as a precaution against the fact that no woman means it.

Romance movies tell me that they never mean it when they say they don't want anything for valentines day.
At least do SOMETHING for valentine's day. Maybe get a pizza or something.

Yesterday I celebrated friday by getting a foot long sub for supper. It was so freaking good. It made my day.

It's not really a fake holiday. However, at Christmas time, you hear lots of people whining about the commercialization of Christmas. In reality, the holiday that's become most commercialized is Valentine's Day to the point that for many people, it means little more than going through the motions of getting some flowers (or even in some cases, having a secretary who automatically takes care of stuff for some guys.)

Wow, a lot of cynics in this thread. Valentine's Day, fake or not, is a nice excuse to have a romantic night out. Why not take advantage?
Why bother going to crowded restaurants just so you can be like everyone else. There are 365 other days this year; why not have a nice romantic night out then? Or be more spontaneous the rest of the year? My wife was just complaining the other night that she was sick of chicken (on an Atkins diet.) I looked to see what she was allowed & surprised her with a surf & turf dinner (lobster & ribeye steaks.) That was appreciated about 10 times more than any gift given on Valentine's day (not that I've ever given a Valentine's day gift.)

That's my view pretty much. Pretty much takes away the point of a romantic night if you feel like you're obligated to do something on that one day.

IMO, going out on a romantic dinner where 100 other couples are doing the exact same thing is really cheap that just conveys that you're just following the crowd. The real romantic gesture is to do it on a random day with absolutely no excuse to do it.

On Valentines I only go all out and take my lady to a really really nice restaurant, any restaurant on that level you'll have to make reservations at least a week maybe even 2 or more in advance any ways. So it would undoubtedly be just as packed on a regular night as it would on Valentines. There's no reason I can't take her somewhere really nice February 14th and 5 weeks later go somewhere else just as fancy. It's not "this or that" for me. I tend to think "this and that"

My wife learned fast that I don't put up with that coy crap. If she says she doesn't want something, then she gets nothing. It's kinda nice saying, "What do you want?" and she has a list.

that's nice. it's weird how women bitch about indecision in men, but play that "you should know" crap all the time. makes no fucking sense.

Only the OP really knows if she's being truthful or not. Believe it or not - these women do exist..and they aren't men. :p

But...I'd definitely at least do something special...

Want to make it memorable?

Tell her to come home at 6pm sharp. Have candles lit in the house with a note saying to tie this silk blindfold on just before entering the bedroom. Get some Barry White going also in the backround. Then, when she enters, slowly undress her, take her hand and lie down in bed with her on some silk sheets. Pour a glass of red wine and have her drink from it. Then, when she's absolutely relaxed, tell her to pull back the blindfold so she can see her girlfriend going down on her.

It'll be memorable one way or another.

Mindgames like that in the op are why I am happy to have never been in a relationship.

Not all chicks play mind games though ....

That said, most of them do, and most of them do it whenever it plays to their advantage, which is most of the time ....
