Eh, I kinda see where he's coming from.

Every new FPS is basically the same as the last ten that came out.
Every new RTS tries to outdo its competitors by adding new features - most of the recent ones are way too complicated for my tastes.

Console games are in a lull right now...not really a game worth playing on 360, ps3 too expensive to consider, and Wii won't be out for months.

Oblivion was sweet though, but now that thats over...

exactly, the last really awesome fps i played was hl2, and i have tried some mmorpgs too, but it just turns into a grind. i tried playing one of my favorite games the other day, civ, and it was like bleh, cant get into it.

i never owned a console, but i played the classics, ff7, chrono trigger, etc etc. but i still think i am done.

Games for the last year or so have been kind of stale lately I think. But I think their are some real gems in the works. Possibly an unanounced blizzard game.. bioware's 'dragon age'... (and they also have some unannounced games in the works)

I would really like another 'dungeon keeper'. Those games where so awesome. Sadly the company went belly-up years ago. 'Evil Genius' was kind of a decent newer replacement for it though that I thought was quite fun.

I've been playing battlefield 2 lately. The booster packs and x-pack have kept it interesting. I would consider that game far from perfect though. I think the artillery needs to be limited to a number of shots per game.. or make it so that an engineer has to actually load the artillery or something before each fire. It's so damn annoying. Even if you destroy it all the commander has to do is drop a supply crate next to it to repair it which is stupid. And then commanders dropping cars on top of your head to kill you... it's ridiculous.

I couldn't get into games that much. I would have needed to keep upgrading my comp and that would have been to much money. I am interested in the nintendo consoles, but haven't bought one yet. i like the simple type of games, not saying nintendo games are simple, but whatever. I have a hard time concentrating on most games, so the easier a character/game elements are to control the better the game.

Buy a PS2, and buy the Kindom Hearts series. Good 2 weeks of play time. Then u can buy cheap PS1 games and play those too.

This is why I think the Wii (God I hate that name) will be very successful. Its the only thing out there that has anything new and different. Everything else is FPS 984594, or Return of the the Revenge of Final Fantasy 83984, the same same old crap with prettier pictures.

If he's into RPG's they aren't coming cheap! I've been playing all of the classic playstation RPG's lately and trying to round out my collection as well, and some of the rare ones go for over $100 on ebay. I actually saw a brand new sealed, non greatest-hits version of final fantasy 7 go for over $270 on ebay. Many of the good rpgs go for around $30-$50. There are a couple you can get for around $10 though.
