i want to make a nice gaming computer i already decided alot but i am stuck with the mobo and processor
i was gonna go with a 3200+ athlon but than i heard they suck so i decided to go with a A64 but than i need to decide what socket and what mobo either socket 939 or 754 i heard the 939 is faster but i also have a window and i like a nice mobo i been looking at the DFI nf4 and i was going to get that but than again somthing held be back its built for nvidia cards to go on sli i thought the ATI cards would work but no than i cant get that because i like ATI alot alot alot better the quality i know people are going to doubt me but i know what i want and i dont want an nvidia card and i dont really need sli i only play cs 1.6 and cs source w00t and i want to get the good computer that will last but than i think i should just get the nf4 board by DFI and put an ATI card in it or maybe i get dual nvidia cards and do SLI what should i do i mean i dont even need SLI because what games i play so what should i do someone else told me to get the 754 but i dont want to buy a 754 and be slower than a 939 when i can pay for the 939

maybe i should
dfi nf3 socket 754?
socket 754 processor?

DFI nf4 939
3500 socket 939
dual nvidia cards

and later on get the new ATI chipset boards and get 2 x800's

or maybe
i should get the
DFI nf4 socket 939
3500+
x800 xt or maybe the pro iono
and than when ati comes out with chipsets i get that new mobo that has SLI for ATI and get another x800

but than i would be wasting the dfi nf4 but its all good i could always sell it

Wow, that was a lot to read.
First off, what kind of budget are you on? You are talking some hardcore upgrades there and your price tag is gonna be huge. Right now the dual video card IMO is not worth it at the moment. I didn't even know they had SLi support for the 939 socket yet. But looks like I fell behind in past couple weeks. Upgrade to the 939 socket for A64 processors. Right now if you want to be able to easily upgrade later, 939 is the way to go. 754 is still common, dont' get me wrong. I use a 754 cpu and mobo myself and i love it. Plenty of support for them too(what's gonna happen with PCIX i dunno, we'll see).

2x800's. Sheesh.

Oh, and can someone verify that the DFI NF4 board is built just for Nvidia? I didn't think it was. But maybe i'm wrong. I personally was gonna get the new DFI for the 754 in a couple weeks. Heard it's the bomb for the 754 processors.

First of all, I would gladly help but man......can you use punctuation? Whew that was an intense sentence.

Anyway, if you go S939 (and yes, I would go the S939 route unless you're on a tight budget) then get the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. If you wait, then go with the DFI board. You will not see that much of a difference with SLI if you're playing games like CS.

:Q

I find that hard to believe, i think ya just messed up.

Just wait until Nforce 4 comes out. The boards right now are good but Nforce 4 has a lot of new stuff.

The ATI chipset won't have SLI, they are going to have to pull something out of their a$$ to get ahead of Nvidia on this. I think they will go a dual PCI-E route maybe

How can you judge the quality of the card when Nvidia doesn't even make their own cards? Also no ATI is not compatible. Sure you could stick one in each x16 slot however they do not have the adapter for the bridge that goes between the two. Nor would you have drivers.

The thing that people seem to forget is that nForce 4 = SLI. The nForce 4 Ultra will be the everyhting chipset withough SLI. For those that don't wanna (like me) or have the desire to spend the kind of money involved in buiding and SLI rig, this will be te way to go
