My Gainward Geforce3 can overclock to 290/590, should I even consider the GF4 series

All in the topic, it's like I am considering or anything it's just...I want to know your oppinion.
This is Gainward GF3 PowerPack card that supposedly has better quality ram.

Without extra cooling it runs stable at 290/590 and with extra fan goes to 300/600 (I dont want to push it above that)

The default speeds are 200/460 as you already know.

Unreal 2 Delayed 8:59 PM - James "Prophet" Fudge - Games: Action - (55)
Both HomeLAN and Unreal Ops are reporting that Unreal 2 has been delayed until Christmas 2002. HomeLAN cites an upcoming interview they conducted with Epic's Mark Rein who said that Unreal Tournament 2 will be out sometime in June of this year, while Unreal 2 will be "in stores in time for Christmas". That really sucks if you've been itching for this game. Whose decision it was to delay the game is uknown at this point..

The Geforce 4 is useless, look above ^
Doom 3 is scheduled the next year, and Unreal 2 in 7 months...
which chalenging games in between? None!

Gomce I would say no you don`t really need too, what you could do is save the money for the next generation of Nvidia/ATi cards down the road like in 6 months time or so.

I`m still happy with my GF2 Ti card ,I`ll probably upgrade it when I start to notice bad or low FPS in my games.

If your one of those that must have the best, then yes.
If you have money to waste, then yes.

Personally, I don't think it would be worth upgrading for most enthusiasts if you have any form of GF3 even at stock clockspeeds.

NO, you won't see any marked improvement, not nearly enough to justify the cost ..........IMO

<< My gainward GF2 Ti500 Golden sample is still kicking ass..no need to switch if it works right? >>

If it's fast enough for you and it does what you want adequately then there is no reason to upgrade at all.
I myself certainly have no intention of upgrading until the NV30/R300 at least.

Well the card hits 290/590 and works 100% stable when I have the side-panel opened and a 80mm fan mounted beside the card (noiseless fan)
But I don't want to push it at those speeds, not at the moment when there aren't chalenging games, maybe in the future... 2 years from now?
Hardware adwances too fast for the software to follow
