The response he would get to that is, then this would not matter then.....

Obviously many of you have not been caught in this stuff....there is sort of a zero tolerance type deal with most schools....academic dishonestly is epidemic with the web, email/messenging through personal devices, micro printing, etc. Kids are getting caught cheating via wireless now.

The thing is if he was helping her they are both caught, it makes sense for the girl to say it was all her fault, getting him off the hook. So that scenario is usually enough for the school to say keep your paper covered next time.

If his background is spotless he can probably beat this thing, you just have to be honest about it. As soon as they identify a lie/holding back they will move on.

I'm sorry for your situation. Hopefully you'll get it resolved. Do as the others have mentioned. Talk to the girl, to the professor, and to the head of the department. If that goes no where I'm sure your college has an appeals process. If all that fails, the worst that happens to you is you retake the course. Your life may be inconvenienced, but it isn't ruined. If this did happen, you need to pursue it with the teacher and possibly dept. head. Also, you may want to see if you can review your friend's prior test results; if your tests and her's match up fairly close, then something has been going on for awhile and the teacher was likely watching to catch someone in the act. As was opted by someone else, offer to take a make-up exam to show that you know the material. Not certain if i would try and get the girl to support you in this; might just make matters worse. Review policy on cheating, see what possibilities or alternatives are in the policy. But it does sound more then a little suspicious.

Thats a tough situation, I can relate to it. In my Spanish II class last year, we were taking our first test of the year and this kid next to me was talking to me and trying to get answers off of me. I just ignored and continued on working, she came over and took both of our tests. I immediatly went down to the Counselor's office right after it and explained everything. Everyone believes me except the darn teacher. I've gotten an A everytime since, except one time I got an A- in spanish since then, but I still friggin hate her for that.

I would reccomend talking to the teacher some other time and tell her you want to take it over because looking at your past grades, you haven't been slacking off. Then, if she still says no, you go straight to someone with much higher authority, you've really got nothing to lose. Explain the situation and everything.
