gee, 3 whole minutes before that happened... I'm disappointed.

<-- wonders if the gung-ho e-bada$$es sleep next to their gun cases everynight...

I used to keep a loaded 9mm in the nightstand and a .40 in my desk when I lived in a place where handguns are leagal.

I don't consider myself "gung-ho" for prefering not to let some teenager be beaten to death on my front lawn when I am in a position to prevent it.
I'm glad for you that you have a gun. This savior guy had only his fists. So would've I. All I meant by that statement before is... every e-bad@$$ on ATOT seemingly has a gun... there's nothing wrong with that... but there is something wrong with assuming those who don't would/should do the same thing as you.

Archer allegedly struck Gerald Edmonds, ran off and was followed by two men, who tackled him at Thornwood Avenue and Hunter Road, police said.

The men restrained Archer until Wilmette police arrived, officials said.

They should have beat his fvcking dumb ass. God I hate stupid people who prey on others. :|

There's a difference between fighting for your loved one with reckless abandon versus sticking up for a complete stranger without knowing ANYTHING going into that situation. Don't act like you're a cocky teenager everytime you get to show how big your balls are. Someone could whip out a 10-inch blade and cut them off to show you up close. Hell, he just got done running over a human with a 2-ton machine. Think anything's possible ?

There is no way in hell I'm gonna watch some girl get stomped to death right in front of me.... 10 inch blade or not... I'm stepping in, and I'm not stepping out until I have no choice. No way I could live with myself if I watched someone die in front of me when I KNOW I could have helped stop it.

You sir are a gutless turd.

For you see,

Whenever life get you down, Goosemaster ,
And things seem hard or tough.
And people are stupid, obnoxious or daft,
And you feel that you've had quite enu-hu-hu-huuuuff!
Just - re-member that you're standing on a planet that's evolving
and revolving at 900 miles an hour,
It's orbiting at 19 miles a second, so it's reckoned,
the sun that is the source of all our power.
The Sun and you and me, and all the stars that we can see,
are moving at a million miles a day,
In the outer spiral arm, at 40,000 miles an hour,
of the Galaxy we call the Milky Way.
Our Galaxy itself contains 100 billion stars,
it's 100,000 light-years side-to-side,
It bulges in the middle, 16,000 light-years thick,
but out by us it's just 3000 light-years wide.
We're 30,000 light-years from galactic central point,
we go round every 200 million years,
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
in this amazing and expanding universe.
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding,
in all of the directions it can whizz,
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light you know,
twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
how amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
because there's ah heck all down here on Earth.

fixed

Fixed again.

You lost me....

 x2

fixed yet again

aren't you the one who asked ATOT for help with your man card yesterday ?

Has this kind of situation ever happened in front of your eyes and you did something about it ? Real emotions and circumstances ? I never said I would not do anything - it depends on what's actually happening and if there's something driving me during the event - adrenaline can work both ways. I've stepped in plenty of times for buddies on the rink... swinging sticks and all. But that's different. I knew what I was getting into.

Until it happens for you - you sir, are just another e-bad@$$. Congratulations.

That's true, it does take a lot of guts to sit your fat ass in front of your monitor and proclaim you would've given the guy an ass-whooping had it been you in that position, even if he had a weapon on him and you had your bare hands.

Like rh71 said, I would size up the situation and then decide what course of action to take.

in nyc thats prolly a good rule to live by. but even so....i hope you'd atleast call the authorities or bring some attention to the event and not turn the blind eye to it.

They saw a black pickup truck that had plowed through the front yard and into the Edmonds' driveway, where it struck a van occupied by an adult and two children there for a piano lesson, she said.

Sorry, I am a bit confused. Maybe someone can explain it to me? Scene: Front yard, victim waking by. At the same time, there is a van in the driveway and an adult and two children were sitting IN the VAN for a piano lesson? Just hanging out in the van?

As a matter of fact it has... I walked out of Bridges in fairfax one night a couple years ago to find two poor bastards being beaten to a pulp by a crowd of fraternity asshats... There had to be close to 20 of them... it was myself and my two best friends... did we say... oooh ut oh... look he's got his head on the curb and is about to stomp on him... better not get involved... NO... we ran headlong into the thick of them. Guess what... if we didnt... those two kids would have been killed. Did we risk our own lives... yes we did. Was it worth it? Yes gawdamnitt it absolutely was... and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Your life ain't worth the bones it's printed on if you're a worthless cowardly scum bucket.

p.s. way to take my man card post waaaaay out of context.

Ok... so you mean what I've been saying exclusively puts me in the coward category ? You obviously are missing something. Weigh the situation.

You've been lucky nobody's pulled a gun, stuck it in your face, and pulled the trigger, just for sticking yourself in a situation you didn't belong. No more happy fiancee... I'm sure your future kid would be proud of it too... that's what I mean by reckless abandon.

yeah. why would some psycho guy want to do such harm to a woman? i'm curious to know this as well. obviously, there's a relationship between the two -- i'd definitely be interested in understanding the motive.

when the OP gets more news, please update us.

I'm not saying you're a coward... because you didnt actually let someone get beaten to death... I'm saying if you did... then you would be a coward.

I'll actually go a bit further and say that I don't believe you... I think that if you were in that situation you would act, despite your claims to the contrary. Everything changes when it's real. When you see someone who is GENUINELY in desperate need of help, your mind and body respond in a very different way than you think it will. In my situation, I was kicking and throwing people before I even knew I made the decision to go. And it wasn't until about 10 seconds into it when I realized my two friends had gone in as well. We must have come in pretty strong, because when all was said and done.. there were about 5-6 guys pulling themselves off the ground and everyone else was on the move. We got lucky, and we did the right thing.

-Max
