10 bucks says shes a stoner. They should force her into rehab or get her institutionalised. That usually help wayward teens.
You must be teenagers. Only teens are so empathetic as to consider this a dilemma. You're man enough to realize it's incorrect action to leave a young girl alone and child enough to consider that something you should become personally involved in.
From personal experience I'll tell you this, nothing you can say or do will save this girl. She's in charge of her personal destiny. In addtion, you should certainly do what you consider to be right action, it may end up being painful but right is not synonymous with easy.
yes she is a stoner...among other things. She used to be totally anti-drug, but then about 2 months after her mom died, she tried pot and it got worse from there. About a week ago her dad was going to make her go to rehab, but I never really got the full story on that, because she isnt in there now. I guess he just said f*** it finally and just left.
You're uninformed. A teen who lost a parent and who has difficult family issues is very likely to try drugs. For some it will be a downfall and others will recover. It depends a lot on the social supports the individual is able to draw on.

She's 16? That's old enough to start working, if you ask me. You can meek out a decent living at that point if you're willing to do any kind of work.
The dad isn't going to leave the house and all of the property though. No one in their right mind would do that even if they have to deal with some cracked out daughter. He will come back one way or another, even in your OP he said "we don't care if you're dead when we come back."

If she's absolutely serious, tell her to start carting things down to the pawn shop, but to not tell anyone that you said so because that could make you partially liable for the loss of that property.
Don't blame the drugs on her mother's death though, we all make our own decisions. There are no reliable statistics that will show you how much more likely a teen is to take drugs after a parents' death. There are some polls and some non-scientific studies that point in that direction, but in the end it really all comes down to your choices. She obviously has friends that had access to drugs, and it was her choice to smoke up and it was also her choice to move onto harder drugs.

With all of those people saying the same thing, don't you think that it's more likely that they are feeling that way for a reason? IOW, she really is a sorry person. She's lying to you because of her own problems.
shes not lying to me. I've witnessed them. Her dad is a douche. It wasnt just her moms death that got her to start...it was that mixed with her dad being a douche to her.
So where do YOU stand? Are you the little brother, the boyfriend, the cuddle-bitch ex-boyfriend, or just a plain old "best friend" cuddle bitch?

Im just her friend who "knows everything" yet she doesent listen to me. Shes just not the brightest one of the bunch.
Get over yourself ... she's 16 do you really think her parents would leave their house and let her stay. If they really didn't want to see her anymore they would have thrown her out, or bought her a 1 way bus ticket to somewhere. Sounds like they are just trying to scare the kid so she may as well take advantage of the situation and have a good time because they are still going to be pissed when they come home.
