My friends car got stolen

My friend's Acura got stolen yesterday. Police found it and its a wreck.
Claiming it as a total loss.

She's totally bummed... 🙁

I'd say I was sorry for your friend, but I honestly have no idea why you'd be upset about this. Insurance covers it. Your job as a friend is to take her out to dinner or something to cheer her up.

Correction: Insurance covers the value of the vehicle, not necessarily what might still be owed on the vehicle in the form of a loan. With the Acura, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. However, with a vehicle with a horrible depreciation rate, it might be quite the painful process.

But then noone steals cars with high depreciation rates and strips them......where is the incentive?

What's the issue about this? They give you enough money so you can get an equal replacement. You're gonna owe the loan no matter what happens to your car.

If you have gap insurance, they cover the loan also. We always get it on Motorcycles down here in Florida cause they are stolen so much. I own my bike free and clear so I have comp insurance, covering theft, but my buddy's bike got stolen and it was worth $6500 on a $9000 loan, insurance hooked him up with $8500, cause that is what he owed at the time of the theft..

her insurance covers it, but not sure about the loan.

She's got a rental for now, and the insurance doesn't cover that.
She didn't elect that option....oh well.

Sucks.

Wow, that does suck. I have full coverage on my car, and it's still worth about 6 G's more than what I owe on it....wonder what insurance will shell out if it catches on fi..... nevermind.
