wow. stupid trucks. they should be abolished.

damn suvs, they should be abolished.
damn airplanes, they should be abolished since they kill so many birds.
damn limousines, they should be abolished.
damn motorcycles, they should be abolished.
damn bicycles, they should be abolished since they are a nuisance.

This has to be one of the most idiotic posts I've ever seen,

So how will we eat food, buy clothes, put gas in our cars if trucks were abolished?

Oh right, trucks are evil.

It wouldn't hurt to have a high-speed rail system on this continent. If done properly, it could cut down on a lot of cross-country truck traffic.

Then why don't you fund it? Or write to DOT or FHWA?

We can barely finance our civilian railroad services in this country, and even those are in the red, can you imagine setting a multi-billion dollar system?

With a country this vast, its almost impossible for that to happen. Remember, we have so many cities and so many people, so what works for other countries cannot work for us.

We do have railroad cargo transportation, but the demand and supply is so high that all the trains in the world cannot transport the goods by themselves.

Also imagine the infrastructural strain it would cost this country to set up a huge railroad system specifically for transportation of materials.

Probably less than the 2 billion a day we spend on the millitary operations we are currently undergoing.

Will the large corporations, such as Wal-Mart and others support it? Wal-Mart, for example, has its own shipping system and its own trucks. What incentive do they have to put up more money so that they could get the goods thru railroads?

Also, how will the goods reach the stores once they are unloaded at the train stations?

You just used your anti-war views to make a point that doesn't have much merit.

I doubt the railroad system will really reduce trucks by that much. Large quantities still need to be carried by trucks.

Hey, we have plenty of money to kill non-Christians in the Middle East... but this isn't P&N.

Why do trolls like you exist?

First you make one of the worst posts in recorded history, then you can't back it up, then you bring up something that doesn't even remotely relate to the issue at hand. Amazing. Just amazing.

I could make a counter argument about what you just brought up, but again, arguing with idiots will only bring you down to their level.

Sorry, DaTT, we're getting way off topic here. I will try to refrain myself. 🙂

you are right... it is not P&N.

and the topic is not war, religion or anything else but a guy whose friend got seriously hurt.

if you want to discuss war, religion... you already seem to know where P&N is.

Agreed.

That's tragic about your friend, though I imagine he will value each day of his life infinitely more than the average person. That in itself is almost invaluable.

How do you propose we move goods from our ports to all the cities across the country?

BTW-OP, I hope your friend makes a full recovery.

whoa, i remember hearing about that when it happened

I couldn't find anything about it on the news, or in the paper. I guess maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Wow...

He will be VERY well taken care of, dont worry... Whether it was the UPS truck or the Pepsi truck, they will make sure he is comfortable.

Im sure his insurance company is taking good care of him...plus his lawyer is doing a fantastic job as well.

goes to show you no matter how careful a driver you are, anything can happen that will affect you... 2 trucks on the opposite side of the road, no less... makes me wanna drive around in a Volvo. My car's frame is easily bendable... crash tests have proven.

thank god he is still alive and wish him a speedy full recovery.

also, thank god he lives in Canada. If he was American, he would be paying for this accident for the rest of his life.

Thanks for taking shots at America in this thread about a tragic thing happening about a guy's life. So pathetic. Sigh, I this thread will not turn into another America vs. Canada flamefest even though some people are itching that happens.

Guess politics have to be involved in every thing we do or see. 🙁

By the way, good luck to your friend, a speedy recovery and god bless him and the passenger.

I agree. DaTT, hope your friend makes a full recovery.
