He called me over cuz he was having some computer problems.
I had a look at his computer and found out that his DVD rom drive CD drive are not identified under My computer. I tried basic stuff like Restarting the computer. It didn't work. Any hints suggestions.

if its a dell, just call dell, thats why you pay the money for those things, to service the computer for people who don't know what they're doing

I asked him if he would lemme have a quick look inside to see if the ide cables were in proper order along with jumper settings. He said he rather take it to the dell tech support center. So its not my problem....
What cracks me up is the fact that I am the only person on my dorm floor not using a Dell computer....

Best to let Dell take care of it anyway, as you wouldn't want to do anything that might void his warantee..

Well, all you need is the Dell Resource disks to reinstall the drivers. Of course it sounds like he probably has a virus since they were probably installed when he got them. He needs to run the debug script & do a Windows reinstall.

-You can PM me for instructions.

1. did you guys add one drive or was it built with 2 drive ?
2. if you added it yourself, is the new drive on cs/master/slave ?
3. try to unplug 1 drive and boot with it.. if it works swap the plugged drive.. if both works, its either the jumper or the cable
