That's a tough way to go but sounds like his foot was somewhat fubar for a while. Maybe this will ironically give him more mobility. If it wasn't caught earlier, who knows how much might have been needed to be removed as well. Either case, we wish him well in his recovery. Great to hear it's all paid for, that's awesome.

Modern prosthetics are amazing. My buddy got his foot scraped off laying out on his bike on the highway a couple years ago. Last time I saw him he was drunk, dancing around a camp fire and as agile as anyone else.
