If you can't tell, premium won't hurt it if it takes regular, but regular can make it knock and ping if it takes premium. RTFM.

Actually, most Honda V6's require premium now. But he should check the manual.

Hmm, well since his is a higher end V-6 model, maybe it does. If he can find the manual, then definately he should check it. I'll let him know, thanks. But this can be argued from both sides, with some saying regular is the way to go while the other says get premium. The manual should end this debate.

I wish my car takes regular gas. If the manual doesn't say Premiun only than 87 octane is fine. Don't waste money with gas price as high as it is.

Then use plus/mid-grade and compromise with the 89 octane...

The manual probably says 86, but from what I know about Hondas, they do perform better with the higher octane because it will advance timing.

Putting out of spec gasoline into a car will cause the computer to recalibrate, based on the feedback it gets from the sensors. In some cases, this can make the car run worse. If the manual says regular unleaded 87 octane, there is nothing to be gained, and possibly something to lose. Middle grade 89 might be a better solution, but from what I've found in most cases, you're just pouring money down the drain.


Not a Honda listed that requires premium. Don't buy the bull
