my fricken computer keeps rebooting itself

i think my PS is dying cause my computer keeps resetting itself just today out of the blue.

i've been running it stable for like 6 months and just today it decides it wants to start rebooting itself. i haven't modded it in anyway for like 2 months. just watched a xvid today and then it just reboots itself. So i set everything back to normal (1.6A -> 2.2 -> 1.6) and it still reboots. I tried taking out the CD in my DVDROM and that seems to have done the trick for now... ?!?!?! maybe its my cdrom thats screwed.

Is it just the one disc? Maybe the CD has a bad block, was it hot when you pulled it? Is there any entries in event viewer (if you're using XP)

where's the event viewer?
it was warm when i pulled it out...
but i wasn't even reading the CD when my comp. rebooted.

ok i think my hard drive is fried, it doesn't detect at bootup now...
i tried unplugging it and plugging it back in, nothing..

and there's little bubbles on the plastic on the bottom... does that mean its melting??

i've had a maxtor drive that started bubbling on the bottom once, and unfortunately
it was toast.
I hate to say it but when a drive's no longer detected and you see those bubbles, it's
time to head to Newegg and start looking for your replacement 🙂
good luck.
