My floppy drive can't read. Help!

I just finished installing a new mobo, Epox 8KHA+, and WinXP. It seems that the floppy drive is being recognized correctly by the BIOS and WinXP, but when I insert a floppy disk, it can't read. I've tried about 10 disks. All different makers and brand new disks. I'm very sure the cable is correctly inserted to the ports, and there's power.
What else can I try?

Do you have a spare floppy to try? Is this floppy new? If you're sure the cables are installed correctly, it could be a bad drive.
