I saw this in scuba a lot. Poor fishy is under-weighted or maybe his bc is stuck on autoinflate. That stuff happens on the overused rental equiptment.

tie mini weights to his fins... it will keep him from floating up and he'll get stronger for the big fight:D

give it some salt, I heard that works, "clears" their system....maybe that only works with goldfish. I did it to my goldfish I had everytime he would do what your beta is doin and the damn thing lasted at least 6 years, then I got two more goldfish and they turned out to be carnivores and ate the old guy. sniffle......no really that did happen!

The best and most humane way to kill a suffering fish is to put it in a plastic bag take it outside and crush it with one big slam of a brick.

Never flush a suffering fish down the toilet.

i disagree, put it into a small container and place it in the freezer, wait about 15-20 minutes (the fish sorta goes to sleep as its body temperature drops) the fish will be dead and then flush it

smashing it with a brick is very messy, and you could shoot your eye out with flying debris, not a nice thing to do to a little fishy

How would you feel if we stuck you in a freezer for that long.

Despite what you think, the fish DOES HAVE NERVES. He can feel the cold and it's a slow, painful, death.

If you had read my post you would've seen that I say to place it in a plastic bag FIRST and then smush it so the debris stays in the back and then you just toss it. The fish dies within less than a second. Another humane method to kill the fish is a little more complex it involves cutting the head off in the gill openings but if you slip and cut in the wrong place it defeats the purpose. It doesen't take a genius or someone with a steady hand to crush a fish with a brick.

Putting it in the freezer, or another popular method which is putting it in a small mix of alcohol/water are both INHUMANE.

Just do what we did to my friends ex-roomates fish when he left em at the apartment.

One part chlorine, one part sleeping pills, one part Tylenol, four Alkaseltzer tablets, and finally ten parts alcohol. Damn them fish died in like 10 minutes and it was hella funny too. :D

And even in this state, I guarantee you he'll murder any other betta. He's already got 5 confirmed kills, and he's an angry mother focker.

I only give them bottled drinking water.

One thing you gotta watch out for are those pellets you're feeding them. I had a whole bunch of tropical fish in an aquarium and had a huge problem with them floating and it was because I was feeding them floating pellets. When they went up to the surface to eat the pellets, they would inadvertantly gulp down some air and since fish don't fart or burp(I don't think), the air gradually built up to the point where they would start floating around. I switched to sinking pellets and didn't really have the problem.

He's perfectly fine now. :D

It would be so sad if big red had died while winterfresh kept swimming along...
