Hey guys, this is my first real webpage so please bear with me if I've made some bad judgements in my layout and overall design. It's a personal site and of course I'm not done yet. The broadband (flash) link does not work on the first page, because well I haven't taught myself flash yet hehehe. Go into the 56k link and take a look at the homepage and the "about me" page. What do you think? Is not being able to adjust the window size annoying?

Any positive criticism would be appreciated.

Woops...LINK.

Fits just fine in my 800x600 window (resolution is at 1600x1200, but i've got two windows opened side by side).

And looks great!!! I LOVE the clean look... i don't like all the junk that some people like to put on their page.

Sorry, I can't criticise it. It's pretty damn good if you ask me. Well done.

Looks great.. one thing that I did see is that Ferris' last name is misspelled. It should be spelled BUELLER. -Unless you know someone else named Ferris Buehler that quoted Ferris Bueller. I think that was the fade in for the 'Gallery' link.

The use of white spaces are good.

I wouldn't cause another window to pop-up when entering (unless there is some reason, which I can't immediately see).

Minimalist web pages are nice, IMO.

Pretty nice page, but I can't stand the typically Asian, "You can't right click on my awesome wep page" crap. It's not too hard to get around it.
Kudos on your first web page though.

Hahaha, I just put the no right clicking thing because I'm worried about people tampering with personal photos. Not so much strangers but some of my friends. They have some twisted humor. Is the no right clicking that annoying?

Wow, that's a sweet site. You balanced it quite well, most people try to throw to much crap on there sites so it looks cluttered.

Overall it's nice! I would however change the way your "start page" (index) works. I see you are using a single image and with image maps. You need to chop up the picture. Besides, you should save is as a GIF not a JPG. I can see some JPG artifacts in it (lower quality). The only time you need to use JPG is if there are gradients!!

Also, when you type text in a picture you should use a ghost box to write into.

by the way, I am 'borrowing' your Jefferson quote...I collect quotes :) TJ and I went to the same college, so I have a page dedicated to his words of wisdom ;) very nice.

Great job for your first attempt! Impressive.

One gripe: I enter as a 56K user (no broadband option yet), the Home window pops up, then I go to Gallery. When I want to go back to the Home page by clicking the Home button in the top nav bard of the Gallery page, it takes me back to the very front page, where it asks me to enter as a 56K user, instead of the Home page with the "About Me" and "Gallery," etc.

Hey DocDoo

I don't quite get the diff. between gifs and jpgs. I'll change the index page image to a gif, but should I change the background photo on the homepage to a gif also? And what are gradients, i mean in pictures? I thought gradients were anything that faded to a light color or something like that.
