My first simple report! NEED YOUR SUGGESTION: best cost performance athlon mobo and cpu

it's been a long time... sorry for this late report, just a bit busy lately.
my new rig:

CPU: XP 2000+ retail @1.8ghz (2200+)
HS: SK-7 w/ YS-Tech 80mm
Mobo: MSI Ultra2-R KT333
Mem: Crucail 512M PC2100 (i know i should buy pc2700... but out of money...)
HD: WD1200JB 120Gb w/ 8m
WD 60Gb 5400rpm
Vid: Visiontec Ti200
Case: Antec 1080AMG w/ Truepower 430w PS (this should be the best part in the new machine )
2 front fans (intake), 1 side fan (intake) and 2 rear fans (blow)
OS: XP Pro + Redhat 7.2

CPU temp:
idle: 35-37
daily use: 36-40 (surfing internet, a little programming...)
fully loaded: 39-44 (>30mins Q3A)

my room temp is kept between 24-28 degree C. a softwaer named Fussy Logic comes with this mobo. it allows you to easily adjust the FSB and CPU voltage. since the multiplier in the processor has been locked, i just simply tried to increase FSB. when i o/c it to ~1.8G(xp2200+), the temp still stays between 38-44(daily use - gaming). and system is very stable. looks like SK-7 and YS-tech do the job pretty well.
the only thing that's kinda weird is my case temp is pretty hight, approx 32-36. i remembered even in my old Enlight 8237 case the temp is always below 30 degree C. this shouldn't be due to the different measurement method the mobo uses...

Hey, that all sounds great. I'm glad things seem to be up and running for you. Glad you got the YS-Tech fan with that HS. As you can see, that pairing can handle the job pretty well. I've not had much luck with the Fuzzy Logic but maybe they have made some improvements since the last system I built with an MSI board. I usually just use the BIOS (the "old fashioned" way) for overclocking.
I wouldn't worry too much about the case temps though. The key number is the CPU temp and of course, the stability of the system. It is not unusal for the case/system temp to be a few degrees above the room ambient temp. You have to remember that you have more than just the CPU generating heat in there. The difference is a bit more than "usual", but I wouldn't worry; it could also just be the more accurate reporting of the MB on this system compared to the others you have had.
I saw your mention of seeing my previous post just before your message. Did the application of the AS3 and HSF go OK for you? Sounds like (from your temps) that things went pretty well; Good Job!

yeah, AS3, SK-7 and YS-Tech work great! Thank you all! btw, my wife also helped me a lot on installing the HS fan. she made it beautifully.

i know the HDs & Vid card generate a lot heat, but for such a big case w/ 7 fans (including 2 ps fans), the temp should be lower than this. any idea on this?

Other than you probably shouldn't worry......................maybe a couple of ideas. What program are you getting your numbers from? If it is MBM, a lot can depend upon the setup. Have you double-checked your numbers with the BIOS figures (if you are using something else)?
Sometimes the balance of the air pressure can make a difference but it really sounds like you have pretty good balance. If you want, you can play around with it a bit by reversing a couple of fans here and there or uplugging one or two and monitor the differences. Make sure you let the system "settled" for at least 10-15 minutes between efforts though before you record the temps.
Remember one thing though. It's true that many people like to see and shoot for a max of 4-6 C between the MB/System temp and the CPU temp and many times "settle" for the 8-12 C range. You are well within those numbers on both scales. The difference might just be in the way the MB reports the temps and/or where the sensor is located (too much research this late at night ). Trying to "match" or come close to the ambient room temp might be a waste of some fun computing time though! As mentioned though, your CPU temp is terrific and that is the most important issue in this.

About the only other thing to do in the case to improve the airflow and try to gain additional cooling would be to go to ROUND CABLES for the IDE connections, and don't forget the FLOPPY.

Have you tried reversing the fan direction from a "Blow-in" fan to a "Suck-out" extraction method ?

thanks, guys. i might try reverse the fan direction later. buz2b is right, i should waste to much time just to reduce 2 or 3 degree c. my wife is blaming me now.
