This is my first gaming PC (any PC really) that I purchased from parts and assembled.
My goal behind this was to spend around $500 and be able to play anything up to 1080p along with Stereoscopic 3d support.
I know I should have asked before buying etc, etc. But well, asking was an after thought.

Case: Raygo T2 Mid Tower
4x 5.25" bays
6x 3.5" bays
2x usb 2.0
2x audio ports
front / back 120mm fans

MOBO: MSI B75MA-P45 Intel B75
4x DIMM DDR3
2x USB 3.0
4x USB 2.0
VGA
DVI
5x SATA 3gbs
1x SATA 6gbs

Processor: Intel Core i5-3470
Quad Core
3.2GHz
6M Cache

RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu

8GB DDR3
1600MHz

PSU: Ultra LS600 Lifetime Series
600W

GPU: XFX Radeon HD 7770 CORE Edition

1GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0
2x DVI
1x Display Port
1x HDMI

HDD : Seagate Barracuda 3.5"

500GB
SATA 6G
7200 rpm
16MB cache

Monitor: Sony PlayStation Display
Up to 1080p
2x HDMI
1x Component
3D Capable

So, like I said this is my first rig, I just did some research and jumped in.
My results have been beyond my expectations
(Tomb Raider on Full Settings in 3D - DMC on highest settings).

Any opinions on overclocking?

I don't personally know anyone who PC games so, I thought I'd come here to share.
Thanks all and I hope to get some responses!

First rule of General Hardware... when asking for input on your build, fill out the sticky.

Second rule of General Hardware... ask first, then buy. Any feedback we give you now will be unusable for this build, am I right? Like, say, the Ultra PSU which is crap.

Which model is the GPU though, it just says "HD" in there. Judging by the amount of VRAM, it's a 7850 at most.

Sorry about that..

I haven't actually bought a PSU I had that from my old pc.

It was the 7770

OK. I think you spent too much on the CPU and too little on the GPU, 7770 is just too weak to take full advantage of an i5. A 7850 2GB would've got you about 50% better framerates, and an i3-3220 would've been fast enough for it. 7850 also overclocks better than a 7770, on average.

Regarding overclocking, you can't overclock the CPU on a B75 chipset board, not that there would be any benefit in it. The 7770 could probably be overclocked a bit.

No

If you have no opinion, then you have no need to post in this thread.

Yeah, I agree that you should have gone with an HD7850 at minimum. Of course, the flip side is that you have something to look forward to upgrading in the future.

3rded on the whacky CPU/GPU cost split. A good rule of thumb is that a gaming rig's GPU should cost more than the CPU by a factor of two or so. That's a little harder in a budget machine, but you should (almost) never pay MORE for the CPU than GPU.
