alright im setting out to build my own pc, ive really been into computers since i can remember but ive had the same computer for the last 6 years!! a p3 866 ghz with 128 mb ram lol

i kinda have decided on the processor by now, after my research and the amount of money im willing to spend

ill be going with the intel core 2 duo e6300 which i choose over the ati athlon x2 3800 because of its overclockability

now after this i really got confused with 2 parts

one the mobo and the other the graphics card

there are just SOO many choices in these 2 cats, ALOT even when u narrow it down to a certain price range

im willing to spend 100 on a MOBO
max 150 on a GPU but its so confusing

from what ive seen, i kinda have picked out the following mobo

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/...m-details.asp?EdpNo=2473506&CatId=1533
also im interested in Overclockin since core 2 duo is a good chip do overclock, but ive never done that before, so itll be nice if i could get a mobo thats good for overclokin my processor

but liek i dont have a clue if this is a good desicion, if someone could please help me select a good mobo for that price

now with the GPU IM TOTALLY CLUELESS

i dont get the GT GTX GS and whatever lingo

im looking for the best video card for 100-150 price range?? any suggestions

well thats pretty much it

i just need suggestions on a good mobo and a video card for the processor i kinda have decided on

ALso i live in canada, so i guess ill be buying from tigerdirect, but im welcome to other alternatives

100-150 canadian dollars? Eep. With the exchange rate these days that's around, what, £50 - £66? Not very much to spend on graphics if you want to be playing games. You need to ask yourself what it is your new PC will be doing and buy the parts that best suit your needs. No point spending an arm and a leg on a graphics card if you mostly do word processing, for example.

This looks like a good deal within your price range for a graphics card, assuming you won't be playing the very latest games and high resolutions.

The motherboard you've chosen is okay and will run your processor fine but you'd be better off with something like this Foxconn board recently reviewed on AT.

What kind of games? (A graphics card is a highly specialized piece of hardware. You only need to spend a lot of money on it if you're going to be using certain software.)

Any reason for that comment?

Monig, what games do you play? If you only play games that came out a year ago, then you have no need to get a top end card. $150 should afford you some decent cards right now. You could check the forums for an even better deal.
I haven't looked into that motherboard but ECS boards aren't made for overclocking. For your range, check out the Gigabyte S3. Its a solid mobo and people have had decent OCs on them.

PS if you want an E6300, I am trying to sell a NIB one that I have ;) PM me if you're interseted.

Well i guess ill be only playing games like BF2 and doom and far cry, but i want to be able to upgrade to a directx10 card in the future, so i want a motherboard that would allow that?? if thats the case then i coudl do with a real cheap GPU right now
