Ordered a dell studio hybrid nearly a month ago for a great price ($299), but unfortunately the system has been delayed 3 times now. When I call, they only give cryptic updates and I really have no hope of the system being delivered anytime soon.
After reading online (and speaking to others who have recently ordered from Dell), it looks like delays are quite the norm with dell these days, so i'm now looking elsewhere.
The reason we decided on the studio hybrid is the size. My wife needs a small quiet desktop computer for our built in kitchen desk for her to do her homework/projects on. We have no access under the counter so everything has to be on top of the desk. Primarily will be used for office apps, but she will also use it for everyday stuff as well (web/music/etc). I'd prefer to stay away from anything Atom based, they just aren't as fast and responsive as I would like and she said no on the laptop idea.
Anyway, so now i'm back to looking at possibly building a Mini-ITX system (using the Lian Li ITX case). With my wife's student $39 Windows 7, I was able to throw together some dual core systems for around $375 or so.
Think i should go that route or hold out for the dell?
