I lost 12 lbs in 2 weeks on Atkins, but third week it has been pretty flat. Maybe because I haven't taken a dump in a while 😉

You should be drinking close to a gallon of water a day if you're on atkins, especially during induction.

SBD is a restricted-carb diet but much more liberal than atkins, and works through different routes.

I bet if you were able to have any self control or the slightest bit of self discipline any diet would work. What makes you think that you would be able to be successful with this regimine?

Would any diet work? I've been put on diets before, and followed them. Like I said, 210 is about where I stop losing, excluding when I was a vegan.

I'm going to try to ease into a better diet, this greasy food is making me absolutely ill. I'd rather have a gut than feel like this.

Yes.

I'll be honest. I don't like greasy food. I don't like eggs, butter, sausage, most meats, most cheeses, mayonnaise, or any thing else high in protein or fat. When I was working 80 hour weeks, I ate a lot of beef jerky. I was sick every day. Every single day. I thought it was stress, but I later found out that it was the jerky.

I was skeptical of the Atkins thing, but I wanted to try. Today I ate the dinner in the original post. Now I feel like crap. I feel like I'm going to be sick for days. This meal is one that is typical of the book. Atkins says in the book that you need high fat at first to kick your body into ketosis.

Well, it ain't happening, at least not today. 😀

I started atkins last thursday, and have been quite religious about it, yet I haven't lost more than a pound or two yet... When do these big weight losses happen that everyone talks about?

You should only lose a pound or two a week. Anything more than that and you can do serious damage to your body. I have dropped about 10 pounds so far. I combined atkins with a fairly light excersize program. I am trying to find time to get to the gym...but its not easy

A large percentage of that 12 lbs was water, which you dumped in the initial days of the diet. Thrilling but also misleading.

If it were me, I would re-assess my caloric consumption. The big selling point of Atkins is that you can eat whatever you want. Well, a lot of people can do that, because they can only cram down so much protein and fat before they feel satisfied. Other people may be able to eat above and beyond maintenance just fine on a ketogenic diet, without blinking.

Also, at Week 2-3, you're within the window of your body's near complete adaptation to running on FFA, with ketones essentially being used only for brain tissue. Anecdotally, some people notice a slowdown in fat loss after the seemingly magical first 2 or 3 weeks.

Chaotic, try some different stuff, bud. Do you like chicken, tuna, salads? Try to stay away from grease/cheese unlesss you have to.

I usually eat a fried egg/sausage/bacon for breakfast before school and work everyday. For lunch I usually have a salad (pretty much just lettuce + dressing) and for dinner I eat chicken, or steak, or seafood, some veggies, etc. And I drink water or diet Mountain Dew or other diet drinks for beverages.

Yeah, I like non-greasy meat, like chicken and tuna.

I think I'll chalk today up to experience and start again tomorrow.

I drink a bunch of water. Not sure if it's a gallon tho, but at least 2 liters a day easy. I also drink herb tea nonstop at work, cus it's free 😉

If you people wanna go hard core try the Fat Flush Diet. Not an easy diet to follow, but IMO has the greatest results.

Almost no breads(only 1 slice of spelt bread a day)
Meats are limited(100 grams of lean protein)
No starchy veggies
No dairy
Only about 3 dozen different spices are allowed
No coffee

Lots of supplements(read expensive) to either keep your metabolism up, clean your liver, or keep you from losing muscle.

Nah. I think I'll try it again the old fashioned way.
