my first LCD ever...help me set it up please

I built myself another computer because the fiance and I were having "sharing" issues, and I got my first ever LCD monitor. It is an NEC 1760NX 17" with 16ms, 450:1, 260 brightness, DVI and VGA. I have it running on my new Gainward 5200 with DVI. my questions are:

1) whats the best way to set it up? I need to set the resolution (currently native 1280x1024 at 60hz)
and check for bad pixels.

2) Are there any good programs to help me?

The issue I am having is the colors seem very whitewashed (not as vibrant as they should be), and the response time seems too slow. Could this be caused by faulty monitor drivers, or video drivers?

Any help anyone can give for a newbie LCD owner would be much appreciated!

response time is the weakness of LCD mon in general
try read the manual handbook of your LCD mon
My mon come with a manual which guide me thru the setup process

Hey, i have the same LCD mon. I've had it over 1 year now and I'm very happy with it. No dead pixels, and good response time and neat design for stand. Currently I'm using DVI, with defaults to 60Hz. I did use D-SUB before, but to get similar quality as DVI i need to get the refresh rate to 70Hz. Above and below that, the signal is not as sharp with D-SUB. For best result use DVI if you can.

got it setup using DVI now... set to 1280x1024 atg 60hz... still cant get the colors quite right...
