My First Home-Built Computer

I am about to order parts for my first home-built computer. I am very excited; however, before I just jump at this I want to make sure I am making good choices on hardware. Here is the list (in no particular order):

I already have monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers.

My main concern is if 850W will be enough to power this machine.

If you are going to suggest different parts, it would be nice if they are available on newegg.

Thanks for all your help!

While the Rosewill RX-850-D-B isn't all that bad it's overkill for your rig. A quality Corsair VX450 or Antec EarthWatts EA-430 would be more than enough power and still give you headroom for a 3870 or 8800GT. Are you a gamer? If so you may want to rethink the 7600GT.

I'm a gamer but I usually play games on Xbox 360 and I'm not like "ZMOG GRAPHICS ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING."

Is there a specific reason to rethink the 7600 GT other than not the latest graphics?

Also, how's this for a psu on my system?

$9.99 after mail in rebate 🙂

If you've budgeted $100 for a psu there's really no need to consider lower quality psu's. Those CM eXtreme's are a mixed bag from Seventeam and Hipro. While they aren't complete junk, you can do a lot better by choosing a psu with exceptional build quality, good voltage regulation, and a 3-5 year warranty.

If you're not a PC gamer, and have a small monitor, then the 7600GT could be an adequate solution.

That card will be fine for a 19" if your not a big gamer.

If you spend another $100 on the cpu you can get the newly release AMD phenom quad, if you do video encoding, graphics rendering or photoshop type stuff it would help alot.

Or if you want even more performance, spend a few extra bucks and build an Intel system with a Q6600 cpu, it is the current undesputed bang for the buck performance champion.
