nice deal...but I hate when people put 166.76 shipped...and a rebate is involved....if theres a 50 dollar rebate it is 216.76 Shipped! NOT 166.76 shipped.....its 216.76 SHIPPED 166.76 AR

I called them (Dell) Sunday to ask which model they are selling, and they said it is the older one. Problem is, I just bought the newer model from Best Buy for $299 - $50 rebate - $30 coupon from the Geforce 4 fiasco. I still had to pay sales tax, so this came in at about $240 after taxes and discounts. Can anyone comment on the picture quality from the old model to the new model? I can still take this thing back for a few days...

Take a look at the post I made up top. I've already commented on this older model.

Sweet deal !! I have been sitting on my thumbs for a month waiting for this monitor :Q This deal smokes like a high school boys bathroom !! 😀 😎 Thanks again for the post and here's hoping Dell comes through on this deal. How I missed this post yesterday is beyond me.

The one i bought from DELL is the new version. The one that has buttons infront. i thought these were the old ones but when i looked at the date on the sticker behind the monitor, it says manufactured Dec 2001.
As what i saw from my local BB, the monitor on display has the slide tray thingy w/c indicates that it's the older version.

Last August I purchased a Samsung 17 inch monitor from Dell, and I received the $40 rebate from Samsung. I had no problem on the rebate.

REALLY good! (you must have some time on your hands, though!) 😀

Welcome to Senior Member level! 😎

ditto that "thejammy" i've been waiting and waiting on this.... i missed the last hot deal on this monitor by 12 hrs. pissed me off 🙁

finally getting a new monitor after 4 years!!

It will be interesting to see the ratio of new to old versions of this monitor that Dell ships. I wouldn't mind either at this price, as a few years of looking at both of my 17" McMonitors has dulled my vision to the point where dot pitch is irrelevant. One thing to not skimp on though with a PC purchase is a monitor. 😛

hot deal on a hella nice monitor i'm using right now, only i paid closer to $300 from egghead a year ago for mine, can't believe its nearly half price considering that monitor prices are usually more fixed than cpus, ram etc... wish i needed another monitor, i'd get this one FOR SURE! everyone i know got in on that egghead deal.

Nice Sig! 😀

Interesting $50 "rebate" coupon that is associated with this post, because the Samsung web page lists only a $20 rebate on the 955DF running for the same dates. So, beware. Can there are two rebates? Check it out under "promotions" on the Samsung USA site.
Good luck.

Ummm look at my link, it's hosted on samsung's website. So unless some hacker uploaded a fake pdf to samsung's site and made a few pages linking to it, ummm yeah. Anyway, for the slow ones, that was sarcasm, the rebate is legit.

Can someone please clarify what the two before mentioned coupons are and where to get them.
(10 of 100 @ph@tw@llet and 10% of Dell@ home) Thank you for your help!

Also, since there is still a little time left for AMEX Blue Best Value Guarantee, price match to EMS Computing for $197 and get the 955DF for $147 after rebate. Sweet!

Thanks to "Frontline Warrior" the link for the rebate coupon is posted as the first post in this thread. And, regarding whether there are one or two rebates, I think that the $50 is the right one. If you elect to "register" for My Samsung, then they take you to the $50 coupon (same as Frontline Warrior's link). Looks to be fine for $50. And this monitor is just fine for most work and any "play" as well.

teachingking, go to Profile and enable Private Messaging ... it makes it MUCH easier to answer a question and not clog up the thread, which with the recent subscription based model, tends to take much longer to load for those of us still using the FREE side of it 🙂😉
