looks like a good deal

has anyone who was purchased a samsung monitor from Dell and sent in the rebate in the past had any trouble with the rebate? I figure they may try to say that Dell is not a participating retailer or something. I am afraid of New rochelle, NY rebates :|

Nice monitor & a nice deal! I got one through the Gateway deal a while back for just over $200 shipped & just got a $30 rebate on it.

Yes, I got a rebate from Samsung on a 17" monitor I purchased from Dell. No problem. I don't see anything on the rebate form about authorized dealers. Hot deal!

Linkified for the lazy :D

I feel I should mention that there are also two versions of ths model. The older one has the hydrolic slideout tray (basically the one that's displayed in the picture on their site). The other one just has the controls up front on the monitor. You guys might want to call up on dell and ask them which monitor they're going to ship out for this order. My guess is the newer model where the controls are just upfront on the monitor.

Perhaps someone that has some experience with this newer model might want to comment on how good this monitor is (color, brightness, sharpness, convergence etc.)

Still a very nice deal though :)

Definitely a hot deal. I love the monitor and, at this price, it's a steal of a deal.

The 17" one is a good deal as well at $107 or so.

Although rebate companies generally try to screw people out of rebates any way they possibly can, I have never heard of your querry as being one of them. They are separate rebates and different promotions.

Can you comment anything about the sharpness near the edges and corners of the monitor? I know for sure that the older model that I have right now has some problems with converges on the corners. Usually if I get one into focus one of the other 3 corners gets blurry. This only happens when I turn contrast and brightness all the way up though. Oh yeah, I was looking at this newer model on display at J&R and one of the things I've notice is that there're some moire patterns on the edges on the monitor. I tried to fool around with the settings a bit but couldn't quite get it worked out. Hopefully it was just that particular monitor that had the problem. Do you notice anything like that on the newer 955df model that you own?

Thanx

I'd like to chime in and say that, as found in previous posts, Dell's shipping is kind of outta whack right now, with free overnight shipping coming up as an option once you begin the checkout process. I managed to nab a Samsung 900NF with the 10% off and $10 coupons, with Fedex Standard overnight, compliments of Dell (shipped out today, arriving tomorrow) :)

is there a rebate for the 900NF? the 955df is a sweet deal but the low refresh rates at high res. kinda turns me off to the monitor.

Placed an order for the 753DF for $159 shipped. Unfortunately I have to pay sales tax since I live in TX. :( But after rebate this monitor is a steal at $118! I got one to replace a broken 17" on my brother's computer. I have a SyncMaster 700 IFT which has awesome PQ. Only issue is geometric distortion (bowing) on the top and bottom.

Hopefully my order goes through as I've had issues with previous Dell orders.

EDIT: Because I really needed a monitor badly I will deal with the focking New Rochelle rebate. Last time I dealt with those guys they took 3+ months to send my $50 GF3 BB rebate! :|

Nope, no rebate that I'm aware of for the 900NF. Dell's price came to around $310 shipped. Overnight shipping via Fedex for the 900NF was close to $100 (which was free).

I just ordered the 955df with the Seagate 80 GB 7200 drive and, to make the deal, added a casino game to be able to use a 100 off 400 coupon (one-time use unfortunately). Then added the 10% off -- total = 267- 50 MIR = $217.

BTW, I didn't forget the 3% E-bates bonus.

I already have one of these monitors and like it alot -- a reasonable, inexpensive monitor. Now, I'll have one for my wife so she can't complain anymore!

Thanks a bunch!

Thanks for the heads up. Just picked one up. Hopefully this won't become another Z560 kind of deal hehe. The rebate form says in one place it accepts copies and in another it requires original. Anybody know for sure or bother calling Samsung previously about this?

Thanks for the heads up. Just picked one up. Hopefully this won't become another Z560 kind of deal hehe. The rebate form says in one place it accepts copies of sales receipt and in another it requires original, so that's the only questionable thing on the rebate as far as I can see. EDIT: You can try getting this monitor at Gateway Accessories for $239 and then use the $50 coupon which I believe is still working (at least according to "Obese Wallet"). Shipping via Ground is free. This is good unless Gateway charges tax in your state, then it's not really a plus. In SoCal it was coming out to $259.15 before $50 coupon, so you would save about $6 bux. I already put my order through Dell and was pleased with my z560 ship time so I'm sticking to them :)

How long does it take to receive the rebate from TCA? I'm kinda worried 'coz i just sent out the $30 rebate from compusa's website for my 955df i bought from dell last month.
If i buy another one, i'll have to wait for the first rebate before i can send this $50 rebate, right? or they will still figure out that i will be sending 2 rebates in the end?

if it works, this deal would be a very hot deal for me 'coz i have a $100 off $400 one-time use coupon w/c can be combined w/ any offers, discounts, free shipping.
Logitech z560,joystick,headphone bundle = $199
Samsung 955DF = $251.95
total = $450.95 - 10% - $10 off - $100 off - $50 rebate = $245.86 :Q (955df shipped overnight for $47)

I'd just like to mention this monitor is not flat like the NF model. If you look closely, you'll see the screen is recessed in about 1/3" to 1/2". The outside glass is flat, but what they did is mold the inner part of the glass to the tube, to make the whole screen appear flater. Kind of like a bowed piece of glass on the inside. I personally don't like the recessed fake flat screen, but maybe others won't be annoyed by it. Otherwise for a non-flat screen this is a very good price.
