Perhaps some lunch perhaps?

What about just money?

Bringing money would be a good idea to bring money.

Taking an english class would be a good idea to take an english class. 😛

I'm a Software Engineer so it's much like your job title. With that said there's not much you need to bring in. You might want to do it the first few days to kind of give your manager an impression that you're responsible etc. But I stopped doing in a week or two in. But yeah you could try bringing in lunch or money to buy lunch and come back and eat. It's a good idea to eat with your co workers so you don't seem like a loner or that you prefer to be a loner.

You might also want to bring in a note pad and a pen (if your company doesn't already provide that). The first day you will most likely just sit in your cubicle and study some related stuff to your work. I remember I sat in my cubicle for 9 hours reading on w3schools as our development revolves around SOA

Bring a zip case full of CDs of your favorite bootleg web dev software. It lets your employer know that you are ready to work and aren't afraid to save them money.

BTW quite a coincidence that you and I both started right after a holiday. I started on a wednseday (just about 2 months ago) right after july 4th.
