How did you attach the original case brackets onto the cdroms to make it stealth? I have a similar case and I just wanted to get some ideas before I start. Also, how do you eject the cdrom? Do you use the eject option via windows? Have you encountered any problems or would you do anything different if you could do it again? Thanks!!
Use dremel or saw to cut the tabs off of the ends, and sand it smooth. I needed to sand all of the edges a bit to make it smaller so that it could slide in and out easier. I removed the front bezel on the cd-rom drive, that can help depending on your cd-rom. I then super glued an old screw onto the inside of the bracket where the cd-rom button would be. I used double sided foam attachment tape to attach the cd-rom tray to the bracket (2 layers I think is what it took to do it). I had to make sure that the screw would still be able to hit the ejection button though. So what I did was put the right amount of tape on the eject button (make sure that top layer isn't double sided) and then I slid the unattached bracket in to cd-rom as far as it would go. If it stuck to the cd tray, good. If it didn't, then I needed another layer of foam tape. It didn't make it far enough, so I added another layer of tape on to the cd tray. This time when I slid the bracket in, it stuck to the tray. I then made a few adjustements to make sure it was straight and that it wouldnt stick to the edges of the case when it came in and out. You just need to fiddle around with it a little. I then made sure that the button had enough tape on it so that I could use ejection button. It ended up needing like 2 pieces of scotch tape on it so that the screw would reach. Once again, I just needed to do a little experimenting.
The only thing that I would change (and may in the future) is the button. Because I used the foam tape for the first layer on the button, I have to press kind of hard on the bracket where the button would be to get it to come out. If I had used something that didn't compress like foam tape, the part of the bracket where the eject button is would pop out a little bit and that would make it slightly easier to press. Oh well, this way I am pretty much the only person that can get it open, because most people press lightly and when it doesn't come out they think that there is nothing there.
EDIT: I also fixed the link. And I am planning on doing a few more mods coming up. I'm adding two quad blue LED 80mm fans on my left slide panel, and I am doing a mouse pad mod. Will post pics in a few weeks when I get around to doing them.
