Hey people i need your help reviewing my configuration, BUT before suggesting me other components please look at this website as i live in Pakistan, ill be buying stuff from this shop. I'm buying following components this weekend:

E4300
P5B (just P5b)
8800GTS 320MB
2GB Corsair value-RAM
WD 160GB HDD
Cooler master 550watts exterme power-supply
No-name casing

Also i'll be doing mild overclocking on this rig but DDR-800 RAM is very expensive here.

Get a WD250 HD, they have better price per gigabyte and higher data density. Plus you'll appreciate the extra space.

... the choice of stuff on that website is dreadful 🙁. It seems you're making the best of what you can get.
 
so true roguestar... the availabilty of computer stuff here, is very awful indeed. I'm really worried about my power-suprly and RAM, they seem to be weak in comparsion with others
 
the power supply isnt weak, but im not sure what you meant by that. 550W is WAYYYY overkill for this system. you could run it on 400W easily, probably less. anyway, based on what you can get, the rest of it looks pretty good.
 
but i have heard many ATOTers that cheap power supplies have low efficiency ? what do you think about the RAM ?

i didnt say get a cheap one, i said get one with lower power as you dont need even close to 500W. cheap is never good, but overkill isnt great either. people on this board seem to think they need 600-700W PSUs when 400W would have been more than sufficient. the fact is that the components dont use nearly as much power as people think.

edit: and the ram seems fine
 
I would opt for better RAM than value select. Something along the XMS series, but that depends on your budget.
 
i would certainly buy the XMS series(DDR-800) but its double the price of value RAM 🙁

For what it's worth, if you're not overclocking then Value Select will do just fine. I used VS in my first two computers and never had any trouble.
