Any of the NForce4 or NForce4 Ultra motherboards (e.g. Asus A8N-E) would be a good fit for a 3200+. I'm partial to Asus myself, but others might recommend DFI, MSI or Gigabyte. The difference between the code names is the processor and fab process:

Venice cores use the newest 90nm process.

Newcastle and Clawhammer are 130nm designs, and are older.

If you want to overclock then go with any DFI Nforce4 motherboard, 3200+ with venice core and OCZ 2x512mb VX. It is going to be a killer.

If you don't insist on overclocking then, I'd recommend ANY Nforce4 motherboards (Asus is strongly recommended) but find memory rams that can fit into the motherboard of your dream.

Best "Rig" I've seen EVER! at anandtech.

Clap Clap Clap!

WTH are you talking about... he choose a prescott not a northwood. A prescott sucks, which is what he choose.

(I have to learn to check for the second page!)

Anyway, since this is your first build I would go with the ASUS as they have a great reputation behind them. Nforce 4 is the way to go. Good luck!

Thanks for the analogy cscpianoman. I've decided to stick with amd. From the information i've gathered from everybody, these are the parts i am probably going to buy. I would appreciate comments and suggestions. thanks.

From the reviews I read for the motherboard, people are saying things about 20 pin and 24 pin atx connectors. They are also recommending that you purchase a power supply larger than 500 watts. I am not sure whether or not the the power supply that comes with my case is sufficient enough for everything. Do you guys recommend that I purchase the case without the power supply and just purchase a better one, and how do I know if the power supply that comes with the case has a 20 or 24 pin connector.

OK, chances are you are not going to need SLI. SLI is a board that allows you to place two graphics cards in tandem to get better gaming performance. I would stick with the single PCI-x version of the DFI board.

Just remember that PCIX and PCIexpress are different things. PCIX are for some server/workstation boards and are high-end cards.

AMD fanboys have hi-jack another thread !!!

I am entitled to give my opinion just as much as you so quit whining !!!

I still say you would be better off with Prescott. Intel machine are much easier especially for first time builders !!! That combined with the awesome performance of the latest Prescott chips should be a no-brainer. Why take a big risk with AMD ???

I think this is getting out of hand now.
Palvarez9504 read up on some benchmarks yourself and see if you want intel or amd. Most of us here would suggest AMD.

let me preface this by saying that i am female. i built my first computer years ago having no experience in hardware installation except knowing enough about what hardware was ideal and compatible with other components (i've learned a great deal since then as well and continue to grow by experimenting), but i bought all the pieces and put them together. after using intel just about all my life, that time around, for financial purposes at the time, i bought an AMD chip. what kind of "big risk" are you referring to? AMD installs flawlessly. my machine powered on as soon as i hooked the PSU up to my wall outlet -- no reconfigurations. as you said (in another context), it's a "no brainer."

please stop feeding misinformation and true bias to people who are trying to seek out honest help from reliable and decent ATOT members. you, sir (child?), are not one.

First of all that video card won't work in that mobo because it is AGP Slot and the board you have picked out is PCI-Express x16. That is a great video card and if you would like to have it other than a PCI x version go with a nforce 3 version mobo. Also go with a SATA hard drive other than the slower IDE it's not much in price difference and it will be alot faster.
