My first build running smooth, need advise on overclocking.

Well I finally put my system together and it works :D

Koolance PC2 601 watercooled case
XP2100 week 49
AIW Radeon 9700
Asus A7N8X Deluxe
2x512 Corsair XMS (CMX512-3200C2PT)
Enermax Whisper 431W power supply
Cendyne 4X dvdr
TDK 52x24x48 cdr

I have installed the software that came with the mobo and the 9700. My bios is 1001 G and vcore will not go higher than 1.85v.
I would like to get the XP2100 as high as it will go but have no idea where to start.

1. Should I update my bios to the new 1002? I was told only to update if I am having problems.
2. Should I also update drivers for the 9700?
3. Where do I start with overclocking, I know I have to up the fsb, change the multiplier, memory and the vcore settings. But where do I start??

My temps run anywhere between 32 and 38 depending on the time of the day (room temp seems to be a factor).

Any info is appreciated.

1.many people have reported problems with the 1001G bios, so it is advisable to update to the 1002 bios
2.you should update your Padeon 9700Pro drives too
3.start by increasing the FSB, then when you hit your highest point then lower the multipliers, do that until you reach the optimum overclock.remember to test it with prime 95 and test your memory with memtest86.

Thanx Bgeh. What increments should I increase fsb and decrease multiplier? Should I touch the memory settings at all?

try to lower the memory timings as much as possible. then test it with memtest86
as for your other question, you can do it on your own peronal preferance.
