My first bad deal on Craigslist...

Sigh... it was bound to happen sooner or later.

I bought a Viewsonic G tablet for $160. Not a bad price and I've been wanting to tinker with a tablet. I checked it out, no scratches, it as rooted and ran smooth enough.

I got it home and within a few minutes the battery went from full to empty. No big deal... put it on the charger and the thing went to fully charged in ten minutes. Grrrr...I wiped battery stats and decided to run it all the way dead.

This is where I got mad. The idiot had somehow blocked facebook servers. I couldn't connect via TweetDeck, the web page or mobile app. I couldn't connect to the Play Store. And then I find that there are about twenty pirated games on it.

I called him and of course he didn't answer. Same result with email. He claims he teaches programming classes but I highly doubt that now.

I spent 4 hours getting the stupid thing working even though he claimed it was working great. I'm more out for revenge than anything since he won't respond.

My options are to:
1 blow up his phone
2 report his piracy to the college he works for
3 drop it and deal with it
4 sell it and get a Galaxy Tab 2

WWATD?

Blocking facebook servers is a public service. You should give him an extra $20. As far as the rest goes... That comes with the territory when buying used. Sometimes you get screwed. Note what you did wrong, and try again next time.

Cant you just restore it to factory default?

Tried that
Tried wipe data
Tried flashing a new ROM but the idiot installed the wrong recovery (that took the longest to figure out)

I'm pretty sure the battery is ok now,I just had to calibrate it. It's working good now. I'm just mad that he lied, then ignored me

Sounds like you just didn't like how he had it configured, and complaining that it had pirated games? Really? Its rooted, that should be a no brainer.

What?
I've always rooted and I have never pirated. Selling something with pirated software is even worse.
And I didn't know how it was configured? What does that even mean? If you don't know what you are talking about, don't post.

I'm going to sell it since its working now. I'm mad at the thing and want to be rid of it.

You're mad at a piece of technology that works? Well, you could send it to me and I'll perform an exorcism on it.

That's not normal?

I wish death on my work computer every single day. For no other reason than it doesn't do exactly what I want, when I want.

If it's a good device, why not just use it. You got some more troubleshooting skills for the money you spent; a better deal than expected.

For future reference. wiping battery stats does zilch. Just fully draining the battery a few times is fine.

I don't have a good reason not to keep it. I listed it back on CL. Unlike this idiot, I offer stock, stock rooted or custom ROM. No apps installed other than stock.

It may not be a registered device. Some earlier tablets didn't have access to the apps market. Also there may be a problem with the ROM on it. Try loading another ROM. You should be able to sideload apps.

Whever you buy something off of craigslist, always test it out well before exchanging cash.
