I think I also had some older madcatz stuff for og Xbox and yes it did suck lol.

As a somewhat older gamer, I found it hard to forget about MadCatz's older junk that they put out. However, their newer stuff is considered pretty decent. I have one of their Tournament Edition fight sticks, but it's also not cheap, which is probably one of the reasons why they're not so terrible anymore. :p

There is a controller out there, 3rd party, that has an amazing dpad. Bullet hell fans swoon over it, but I can't for the life of me find the name of it atm. However it does seem most shooter fans shun the dpad on the xbox.

I really like the analog sticks for everything though, even for 2d fighting games. I find is so much easier to do the quarter and half circle specials.

I think the draw of ni no kuni is that it is freaking cute. I can play it in front of my kids and my wife doesn't bitch about the graphic violence.

PLUS, my 6 year old daughter wants to play it with me... It damn near brought a tear to my eye. She even says "if I eat my dinner quick, can we play that game before bedtime?" muahahaha. I want to play anyways, I now have my minion doing my bidding.

I was playing in front of my nephew to get him hooked on something that doesn't have grenades and assault rifles. Him and his sister had some classmates over and they all pulled onto the couch to watch.

One of the more emotional scenes goes by and the room is dead silent. One of them manages to squeak out "...that's so sad..."

Its been far too long without a heartwarming tragic old-school JRPG.

I love that Oliver is such an honest innocent endearing character in an age where RPGs have gone astray with the dime a dozen emo billy bad ass one man army spewing one liners bullshit.

IMO i'm disgruntled how the majority of it is made for children; give me a JRPG with mature adult themes and a story that doesn't always explode to saving the universe and i'll bite. What drives me nuts (as I've not doubt complained before :) ) is that its almost always a storage of some teenage angst that evolves into saving the entire world and all creation.

PS1 games like Saga Frontier, Parasite Eve, and Vagrant Story showed that you could make great convincing stories that didn't have to revolve around 16 year old saving the world.

Mature themes doesn't mean grenades

True...then you have games that are such a mind blower in the storyline that you sometimes get confused about what is actually happening. Xenogears was one example that up until the end I didn't know if I was playing as Id or Fei.

the fact that netflix/hulu/amazonprime can be used without a subscription fee makes it an excellent home theatre box

I've got a Slim PS3 and a pre-slim 360.

My 360 is quite a bit louder than my PS3, and while I prefer the 360 controller... my 360 always feels more rickety and outdated than my PS3. The PS3 has served me well. I like both, but I think I have been more impressed with the PS3.

I don't know anything about this newer PS3 with a door on it... but my Slim is a very sleek, well made piece of equipment.

I use it a lot for movie streaming from my PC, watching blu-rays, and not THAT much gaming but I did play Last of Us and a few others.

Id vs Fei was a mind blower?

How about when the intro video FINALLY makes sense?

I swear my heart stopped beating and I had to save and reset and watch that intro in shock a dozen times with a new appreciation, reverence, and sorrow for it.

Original Xenogears story is fawking AMAZING.

Both the Xbox 360 and PS3 suck big time. The resolution is horrible compared to PC. Absolutely abysmal. The difference is literally day and night. You cant hack much, cant get stuff for free, cant upgrade, the list goes on and on... And why would anyone want to use those horrible controllers when there's keyboard and mouse?

//end thread.

Jk. : P

But seriously, my trolling aside, the reason why some people say PS3 feels cheap, is because they buy those garbage consoles available now. Go buy the PS3 "phat". Then talk to me. I thought the design was amazing, and the overall feel is miles better than Xbox 360.

It's been discussed so many time before, but I'll say it again. Xbox 360 has overall better online play and features, more games that actually play better on Xbox than they do on PS3(this is less true in recent years), and possibly more games in general.

PS3 (phat, and early slims) have much better build quality and reliability than anything Xbox has to offer.

My comments;

What slide door

Ps controller so much better than bulky ass 360

Ps desktop much easier to navigate around, hate shifting through the windows on xbox.

If you load updates on a usb drive or have a wired connection, don't find the updates take much time at all.

Can't say I've ever noticed sound on any console, but they're usually sitting far enough away from me and there is almost always a fan or something on in the room so wouldn't notice anyways.

I have a 80 GB PS3 that I've used pretty sparingly and am considering selling. The only game I played a lot on it was Grand Theft Auto 4, but for the last 3 years it's mainly been used as a bluray, Netflix, and media server for my bedroom. On the other hand, my Xbox 360 has been used a lot more because that's what all of my friends are on.

I find it refreshing not personally worrying about achievements anymore. I think I had 100k but just don't care anymore. It never got me anything. It made me quit video games for awhile when I realized I was playing and buying games for achievements and not for fun.

One of my friends on Xbox is just like that. He plays everything, including the Hanna Montana games because he competes with his brother in-law on their gamer score. It's really sad because he will rush through the really good games and drop them just to move on to the next easy achievement game. That's got to be a pretty sad life.

Ill only 100% and achievement whore offline games. I refuse to participate in checklists that require cooperation from strangers.

Capcom royally pissed me off when they took my 100% complete RE5 and added 20 online only and competitive achievements.

That's crazy lol. I play games for the game and play how I wanna play. If my score doesn't go up or I miss a trophy oh well. I get enjoyment out of everything I play.

If anything I see trophy hunting as a surefire way to overplay a game and dull it's impact. Beyond: Two Souls is a very recent example, and one that's far easier to 100% than most games - aside from the hours devoted to doing it. So you beat the game once and get a fairly unique experience with a lot of small, and a few large, differences making it your version of the story. Getting a 100% on that game would mean replaying tons of scenes and purposely picking different options to get the 'right' outcomes for trophies, which smothers one of the most gratifying things about playing it in the first place. It's one thing to replay it later and go a different route in light of what happened the first time, but to systematically work through scenes for days on end to pop trophies is defeating the purpose of playing it in the first place (for me anyway). I realize I'm in a bit of a minority though because lots of people love knowing they've done everything in the game, but that's not for me.

Yes, it is crazy. In fact, he is a huge Bioshock fan, but when the newest one came out he waited almost a month because his brother in law had passed him. He decided to wait on bioshock while he played the adventures of tin tin and a dora the explorer game.

Yes, I played many kids games for the quick 1000.

I'd even buy a used game at GameStop, rush home and beat it within a week and return it for something else.

Xenosaga.

Played XG, never played XenoSaga. Remembering back to when all the reviews came out, the item that stuck out was the game was bland and it wasn't all that fun...

Anyways to be fair its more of a general ran. I'll keep XG in mind moving forward - right now I'm trying to play FF12 , which I bought when it launched but never played, and just started a little bit ago. I'm already annoyed that I'm a 16 year old (AGAIN....sigh) so we'll see how long this lasts...but as of yet I'm still in the phase of the game where I'm just acting like a thief as opposed to saving the world on my high horse.

Mind blower is perfectly fine. In fact, I'm more impressed by the ability of a game to blow your mind without pulling the "OMG SAVE TEH UNIVERSE AND O YA I'M SIXTEEN YEARS OLD AND ANGRY" card
