I'm pissed off. She bought a brand new, 2003 Toyota Corolla LE and has only had it about 3 months.... she lives in the bronx, bought a spot in a parking garage to make sure it was safe... and that wasnt enough, some lowlife POS took is grubby hands, and keyed it.... whats the best way to get the mark out? or am I SOL?

I will NEVER understand that.... why must a person who keys a car always be a lowlife? I mean, come on! A regular Joe like you and me could also have nothing better to do than destroy someone else's property! Why must you bring nasty stereotypes into this?

Depends on how deep the key marks are, if you can feel the rough surface with your finger, its probably in the paint and wont come out with products like gs-27. You should go back to where you bought it too, maybe they can buff it out.

Parking a car on the street is a risk, no matter where you park it, if someone wants to scratch it, they will :disgust:

Does the garage cover this? Seems if you bought a space they would have security or some type of insurance?

I live in the burbs (Long Island) and my car was scratched... a single line almost to bare metal. It's not likely a key-job, more like a shopping-cart job because if they meant to key it, it would be longer than the 6 inches in length. Anyway, there's nothing you can do to prevent something like that from happening, no matter where you are. People in NYC are more susceptible to bumper marks/scratches, but keying... that's anywhere.

I park at the far end of the parking lot (but not all by itself) at work to prevent any further damage to other sides of my car. Now I know why other people do the same.

I've been sleeping with this girl that has said she wants to break up with her fiancee. Two days ago she gives me the gate. I got pissed and keyed her car. It's the same make and model and that's where I did it.
 
Just a note that someone keyed my car. I was po'ed too. I made a police report and then called my insurance company. Because this happened when my car was parked I was not liable for my deductable meaning I got it fixed for nothing. My car was older so the paint did not match perfect but for you with a new car you should be ok. Check it out.

Perhaps money spent on that Toyota might better have been used towards moving out of the Bronx?:Q

That wasn't a dis, just the observation that of all the places one could live as a woman in the USA the Bronx imho probably rates darn close to the bottom of the list.
 
A guy @ my work had his car keyed some months ago. It was bad, they got the hood, side fenders and door. 90% of it was buffed out by a body shop. He had to have the rest re-painted.

First, take it to a body shop and ask them if it can be buffed out.

You'd be surprised on how thick the clearcoat is on some cars.
